Have a look at the full game preview for Lions vs Chiefs Week 1.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones is waiting for a new contract, while tight end Travis Kelce hasn’t been officially ruled out after hyper-extending his knee and suffering a bone bruise, but it’s not looking great.
The point spread is at 4.5 points, still favoring the Chiefs.
Both teams possess excellent offenses, and the Lions will sport a new starting running back in Jahmyr Gibbs.
If the Chiefs are without Kelce, they’ll turn things over to Noah Gray and Blake Bell. However, they’re not Kelce, so this will change the game plan in an interesting way.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes still has many weapons to throw to, including wide receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Rashee Rice and running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon, and Isiah Pacheco operating as the primary rusher.
The Lions allowed 146.5 rushing yards per game last season, and while it’s a new season, they have a lot of the same talent there.
The secondary starts badly, with Emmanuel Moseley sitting this one out. Cam Sutton and Jerry Jacobs will start on the outside, with Brian Branch playing nickel.
The Lions have an excellent offensive line to keep quarterback Jared Goff upright, a dynamic backfield, and competent weapons, even with Jameson Williams out for the first six games.
Looking at the odds above, these are the wagers we’d recommend:
