NFL Best Record Odds 2024 - Will the Chiefs Climb Back to the Top?

The first NFL kick-off of 2024 is quickly approaching, and oddsmakers have published odds for teams to finish with the best record during the regular season. 

The race for a Super Bowl ring starts with putting together a great regular season. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, the top Super Bowl favorites, unsurprisingly also have the best odds to finish with the best regular-season record, though they are a few surprises close behind.

Here are the odds, top candidates, and our best bet to finish the 2024 NFL regular season with the best record.

Kansas City Chiefs (+650) at FanDuel

The Chiefs had one of their “worst” years in recent history and still went 11-6 en route to a Super Bowl championship. Their defense was their catalyst last year and will take a hit with the loss of L’Jarius Sneed, but they still have Chris Jones, Trent McDuffie, and plenty of other notable contributors. And, of course, the ace in the hole that is Patrick Mahomes, who finally got more speedy receivers to target in 2024.

San Francisco 49ers (+800) at FanDuel

The Niners are one of the most consistent teams in the NFL. Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy were both top-four MVP candidates a year ago, and their defense allowed the fourth-fewest points per game. Kyle Shanahan’s squad is stuffed with talent from top to bottom and arguably has the highest floor in the entire league.

Baltimore Ravens (+950) at FanDuel

The Ravens finished with the best record in the league last year thanks to Lamar Jackson’s second MVP-winning season and their historic defense. They’ll be in for tough sledding following numerous departures on the defense, including coordinator Mike MacDonald, but the addition of Derrick Henry should make an already-elite run game close to impossible to stop. The AFC North, however, is the toughest division in football and will be tough to navigate.

Philadelphia Eagles (+1100) at FanDuel

The Eagles were 10-1 after 11 games last year and were in line for the best record in the league before they lost six of their final seven games. Jalen Hurts struggled with injuries and will be tasked with returning to playing like a top-flight quarterback, a task which will be made easier thanks to the arrival of Saquon Barkley. The defense is young but has a high ceiling, especially after it underwent an overhaul in the secondary.

Detroit Lions (+1100) at FanDuel

The Lions made it to the NFC Championship a year ago and have shown consistent improvement under head coach Dan Campbell. Their offense has been elite for three years, while the defense allowed the second-fewest rushing yards per game in 2023. The main issue here will be their pass defense, which is why they invested in rookie Terrion Arnold and former Buccaneer Carlton Davis III.

Cincinnati Bengals (+1100) at FanDuel

This team will go as far as Joe Burrow (and his health) allows it to. The defense disappointed last year but got better after it added the league’s joint-leading interceptor, safety Geno Stone, and also won’t be under as much pressure if the offense is back to its normal level. Like Baltimore, Cincy will have to contend with the AFC North, which will make its path one of the most difficult ones in the league.

Miami Dolphins (+2200) at FanDuel

The Dolphins are a high-risk, high-reward pick, hence the odds value. They only beat one team with a winning record and still finished 2023 at 11-6, two games off the Ravens’ league-leading mark. Mike McDaniel consistently has the offense as one of the best in the league, and the defense has continued to add big-name players in hopes of finally making a deep run in the playoffs.

Chicago Bears (+3000) at FanDuel

Caleb Williams was likened to Patrick Mahomes during the pre-draft process… if those comparisons aren’t totally laughable, then the Bears have a realistic path to attaining the best record in the NFL. They won seven games with some of the worst quarterback play in the league, allowed 17.9 points per game (the third-fewest in the NFL) after the arrival of Montez Sweat, and made a host of upgrades on the offensive side of the ball. Both games against the Lions will be crucial to their potential success in this market.

My Pick: San Francisco 49ers (+800) at FanDuel

The Niners, as we mentioned, are the definition of consistent both in terms of year-to-year play and all-around ability. Brandon Aiyuk’s trade demand puts a damper on this bet slightly, though there’s reason to believe that 24-year-old Brock Purdy will continue to get better and may no longer need the crutch of having the most talented offense in the league to support him.
