Best Brock Bowers Prop Bets: Can the NFL’s Best Rookie Tight End Take Advantage of Porous Tampa Defense

  • Brock Bowers ranks fourth in the NFL in receiving yards heading into Week 14

  • Bowers has only scored four touchdowns in 12 games this season

  • Bowers has racked up at least 120 receiving yards in two of his last three games

At this point in the season, there is no doubt that Brock Bowers is the best rookie tight end in the NFL. In fact, one could argue that Bowers is already among the elite tight ends in the NFL. Bowers heads into Week 14 with the fourth-most receiving yards in the league. That’s not the fourth-most among tight ends, that’s the fourth-most among everybody. Despite being a little light on his touchdown total with just four and playing with subpar quarterbacks, Bowers has hit the ground running as a rookie, which is why he’s an excellent player to target with prop bets this week as he faces a Tampa Bay defense that has struggled to contain tight ends this year.

For fans of prop bets, bet365 Sportsbook is worth considering. The site always has a great selection of prop bets and is easy to navigate. Also, if you’re a new user, bet365 gives you a choice between a safety net of $1,000 on your first wager of $150 in bonus bets just for making a $5 bet when you sign up. That’s what makes bet365 perfect for both new users and betting veterans.

Bowers has been so impressive this year that he’s managed to hang around in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race. Traditionally, that’s not an easy award for a tight end to win, making his presence in that discussion quite impressive. Unfortunately, Bowers alone hasn’t been able to keep the Raiders a factor in the AFC West race. Nevertheless, there will be some interesting prop bets involving Bowers to consider in Week 14.

Best Brock Bowers Prop Bets

Brock Bowers Anytime Touchdown (+175) at bet365 Sportsbook

For whatever reason, Bowers has had a hard time finding the end zone this season. He scored just one touchdown in his first eight games, which was surprising given his fast start. Nevertheless, Bowers has finally started to make up for that slow start, scoring a touchdown in three of his last four games. That has made him a valuable anytime touchdown target moving forward.

Those three touchdowns have coincided with Bowers becoming an even more important part of the Las Vegas offense. Two of those touchdowns came in games in which Bowers went over 100 receiving yards. It’s also worth noting that all four of his touchdowns this season have come from outside the red zone. The Raiders don’t need to be near the goal line for Bowers to be a touchdown threat, which is why he has good value with this prop.

Brock Bowers Anytime 2nd Half Touchdown Scorer (+425) at bet365 Sportsbook

If you’re convinced that Bowers is going to score a touchdown this week, this is another prop bet that’s worth considering. All three of the touchdowns he’s scored in his last four games have come in the second half of games. While it’s a relatively small sample, the value could make this bet worth a shot because of how well Bowers has played recently.

It’s not as if there is no logic to Bowers only scoring in the second half of games lately. The Raiders have lost eight in a row, so they are usually playing from behind in the second half. They have to throw the ball more, giving Bowers a lot more targets. The play-calling is also a little more aggressive, which favors a player like Bowers who is capable of making catches downfield and racking up yards after the catch. Teams can also fall into a false sense of security if they keep him contained in the first half, which has allowed Bowers to shine in the second half of games.

Brock Bowers Over 66.5 Receiving Yards (-110) at bet365 Sportsbook

With over 120 receiving yards in two of his last three games, it’d be foolish not to think Bowers can get over 66.5 receiving yards this week. To be fair, he’s only gone over this number six times and has done so just twice in his last five games. But Bowers has also garnered at least 10 targets in three consecutive games. His usage is picking up, which should give him a chance to rack up plenty of catches and yards.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Bucs are giving up around 66 receiving yards per game to opposing tight ends. In fact, only two teams have allowed more receiving yards against opposing tight ends - and one of them is the Raiders. The Bucs have been hit hard by defensive injuries this season, especially at linebacker and safety. That makes the Tampa defense a little light on players who can defend Bowers consistently, setting Bowers up for another big game in Week 14.
