The Detroit Lions hadn’t been to an NFC Championship Game since 1991, but now they’ll take on the San Francisco 49ers for the right to advance to Super Bowl LVIII.
The Niners made four of the last five NFC Championship Games but only one Super Bowl during that stretch. Oddsmakers have them listed as touchdown-favorites over the Lions, but will they live up to that billing, and which players will inevitably dominate the postgame headlines?
We built a same-game parlay with the best betting picks and player props in the Lions vs. 49ers NFC Championship Game. Here’s how the parlay looks.
Lions +7
Christian McCaffrey anytime TD scorer
David Montgomery anytime TD scorer
Jared Goff 200+ passing yards
George Kittle 50+ receiving yards

The Lions are a league-best 13-6 against the spread, and Dan Campbell covers an NFL all-time best 68% of the time. Detroit only lost two games all year by more than seven points and has all of the momentum in the world after their recent performances. Lots has been made about their preference to play in a dome, but they’re 6-3 on the road, and there’s an argument Brock Purdy is affected by bad weather just as much as Jared Goff.

McCaffrey scored in more than 81% of games and has 23 total touchdowns on the season. He ran for two scores last week and is an indispensable asset, especially with Deebo Samuel potentially sidelined by a shoulder injury. He can also be a great weapon in the passing game going against a defense that allowed the second-most passing yards per game.

Montgomery closed as a minus-money favorite to score a TD in 14 of 16 games, yet he’s +165 to crack the pylons in this game. He scored 14 rushing TDs (one in the playoffs) and is the go-to guy near the goal line because of his physicality and ability to plow through the A and B gaps. Points could be hard to come by in this matchup, and the Lions’ leader in touchdowns is the safest bet.

Goff threw for 200+ passing yards in all but one game this season. Although his numbers were worse on the road, and the Niners allowed just 213.1 passing yards per game to opponents, he’s an outstanding QB if he can settle into his play-action. The Lions have the second-best offensive line in the league per Pro Football Focus’ rankings, and San Fran only managed three sacks in its last three games, which means Goff should have enough time to deliver strikes.

Kittle went over 1,000 regular-season receiving yards and brought in four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown a week ago. He beat this line in five of his last six outings and could be in for an even larger role, again, if Deebo cannot suit up. The Lions gave up the second-most passing yards per game (256.9) and allowed Baker Mayfield to throw for 349 last week, which puts Kittle in a favorable position.
