The Badgers have excellent guard play and defend the ball very well, but they look set to be dominated in the paint by the Tar Heels.

The Badgers didn’t have the most spectacular season in college basketball. But on the other hand, they were competing in the toughest conference in the country.
Wisconsin were rarely dominated throughout the season, likely owing to their two-way play – as enforced by head coach Greg Gard. Their defensive acumen will be what gets them through this game.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Badgers will want to take advantage of extra opportunities. The Tar Heels are one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, but turn the ball over at a high rate. The Badgers must pressure the ball to find their extra opportunities.
The Tar Heels are excellent at closing off defensive possessions and they are stalwart on the offensive glass. Their energy and effort are infectious, winning them their fair share of matches alone.
North Carolina’s interior game is aggressive and the Badgers have little that can match them in that regard. On the other hand, they don’t have much of an alternative on the offensive end.
The Tar Heels are also one of the worst teams in terms of taking care of the ball. At 14.8 turnovers per game, Roy Williams’ side must be more careful if they want to win this matchup.
Senior forward Micah Potter is going to have his hands full when he faces the Tar Heels, but he’s got a skill set that could give them trouble as well.
Potter is averaging 12.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 50.6% from the field and 37.5% from three. Potter has hit at least two threes in ten of his games this season.
Potter will have a tough time wrestling with the North Carolina big men in the paint, but he can make up for any losses on the boards with his ability to shoot the ball.
Sophomore big man Armando Bacot has been an excellent present for the Tar Heels this season. Despite a lessened role compared to his freshman year, his efficiency has improved across the board.
Bacot is averaging 12.2 points and 8.0 rebounds on 62.7% shooting from the field. His 3.2 offensive rebounds per game are a massive boon to North Carolina’s offensive shortcomings.
Head coach Roy Williams will be leaning on his big man to be a threat when they face the Badgers. Not only will he have to clean up the glass, but he’ll be defending the rim against a Badgers team that wants to win the paint battle.
