Can the hottest shooting team shut down one of the toughest two-way teams in the country? Possibly, but the Bruins’ recent defensive form is the factor that is most worrying for the Bulldogs.
All the pressure is on the Bulldogs to win this game, while UCLA showed that they can outlast some of the best when they closed out Alabama and Michigan in their last two rounds.
The Bruins don’t rebound particularly hard, can be streaky shooting, and inconsistently get to the free-throw line, but they’ve shown how many different ways they can win. They’ve got an outside shot of beating Gonzaga, but it all starts on the defensive end.
Gonzaga have their doubters, but they’ve smashed any doubts against them with every game they’ve played.
Their last game against USC showed their maturity and commitment to Mark Few’s gameplan. Despite their supposed disadvantage in the paint against the Trojans, Gonzaga won the rebounding battle and big man Drew Timme led the game with 23 points.
The Bulldogs do not make mistakes, play tremendous defence, and can go on runs faster than teams can recover. It’s their match to lose against the Bruins, as Gonzaga have plenty of weapons to take them down.

Bruins guard Johnny Juzang continues to be the story of the NCAA Tournament. After almost missing out due to a worrisome injury during the play-in against Michigan State, Juzang has shown he’s one of the stars of the tournament.
Juzang is averaging 21.6 points per game on 47.7% shooting from the field and 35.3% shooting from three. Comfortable driving to the rim or launching from deep, Juzang has caused every team he’s faced issues.
He’s going to be rightly keyed in on by Gonzaga in this matchup. A pure scorer with difficult size to match, Juzang will be the player to watch.

Star guard Jalen Suggs made an all-around impact in his last matchup with the USC Trojans. His ability on all offensive fronts opens up the court for the Bulldogs, and is expected to give the Bruins trouble.
Suggs had his best game of the NCAA Tournament, contributing 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. His near triple-double paced the Bulldogs, especially during their excellent run against USC.
Gonzaga will look to get out to a fast start again when they face the Bruins. Suggs will likely lead the charge, his end-to-end play being a key factor in their success.
