Oregon vs. Creighton Prediction and Odds

Oregon Ducks

Oregon won the Pac-12 Tournament and immediately became a potential threat to win the Midwest Region. They started the tournament off with a statement win against South Carolina.

The contest was never close, as Oregon led by five at the half and ultimately won by 14 points. It was a team effort from the Ducks, but Jermain Cousinard led the way for his team.

Cousinard, who is older than Luka Doncic, dropped 40 points and was 14 of 22 from the field. He was also 7-7 from the free throw line, leading the team in every category.

Cousinard also had six assists, so he was the team’s best passer on the day. The other dominant big man for Oregon was N’Faly Dante.

Dante averages 16.5 points but scored 23 on Thursday and shot 77.8% from the field. He also accounted for six boards and two assists, so nobody could contain him throughout 40 minutes.

Oregon was locked in as a team, and this is perfect for momentum heading into the NCAA Tournament. The Ducks shot 59.6% from the field and were 7-16 from the three-point line. They shot 80% from the charity stripe, and it was one of their best team performances of the year.

Oregon is a prime example of a team playing its best basketball at the right time. The Ducks are 51st in the KenPom Ratings, but they have surged in the final portion of the season.

Creighton Bluejays

Creighton played in one of the toughest conferences in the country this season. They had many signature wins, including a victory over the #1 ranked Connecticut Huskies.

Creighton is a great shooting team, but they have some weaknesses down low. The Bluejays physicality is sometimes lacking, which isn’t ideal against a big team like Oregon.

Creighton started very slow against Akron. The Bluejays only had a five-point lead heading into the locker room and trailed for much of the first half. If they come out sluggish in the second round, like they did against Akron, it will result in an early exit.

Ryan Kalkbrenner had 23 points and eight boards in the win over the Zips. He shot 64.3% from the field and was fantastic in every aspect of the game.

Creighton’s best player, Baylor Scheierman, also showed up and set the tone after his team's slow start. He only scored 15 points, which was below his average, but he had 13 rebounds.

Scheierman must bring this same intensity on Saturday to avoid the upset.

Oregon vs. Creighton Pick

  • PICK: Oregon +5.5 (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Oregon has a favorable matchup against Creighton if they defend the three-point line. The Bluejays become dangerous when they get hot from the field, but if Oregon can make a slugfest, they could win outright.

Cousinard showed how physical he could be in the opening round. Dante is also a stout figure in the paint for Oregon, and Creighton doesn’t have the team to contain these two players.

Oregon will advance if they continue to play their best basketball. However, take the points, as this game should come down to the wire.
