  • Duke has a point differential of +12.4

  • Vermont is 18-1 since the New Year

  • The Catamounts don’t have a player taller than 6’8”

Duke has established itself as one of the best teams in the nation, but they’ll be facing one of the hottest tonight. Vermont has lost just once since the New Year, by just two points on the road. They don’t have the talent of the Blue Devils, but that momentum could be enough to beat a Duke team with a history of losing to heavy underdogs.

Below, we will share everything you need to know about tonight’s game to bet confidently at your favorite sportsbook.

Duke vs. Vermont Prediction and Odds

Duke Blue Devils

While Duke had a strong season, they are 3-3 over their last six games. Those losses came against UNC, Wake Forest, and NC State. That is a troubling trend for a Blue Devils program that has become famous for being upset by schools like Vermont. They have a strong edge when it comes to talent, but it’ll take more than that to get past the Catamounts.

The Blue Devils have led the ACC this season with a +12.4 point differential. They average 79.8 points per game while allowing just 67.4. Their offense runs through 7-foot center Kyle Filipowski. The sophomore leads the team in scoring (17.1 PPG), rebounding (8.2 RPG), steals (1.1 SPG), and blocks (1.6 BPG). Stopping him is incredibly difficult, especially with Jeremy Roach and Jared McCain shooting well from the outside.

While Duke has many shooters, their size will be the key tonight. Vermont does not have a player over 6’8”, while Duke has two starters over that size. If Duke can hammer the ball down low and dominate the boards, they shouldn’t have a problem covering this large spread.

Vermont Catamounts

The Catamounts come into tonight’s game as one of the hottest teams in the country. They have won ten straight games and have lost just once in 2024. That sole loss was on the road and by just two points. While talent is king in the regular season, momentum is equally important this time of season. The Catamounts will have some confidence tonight, and we see that leading to a closer game than expected.

Vermont’s offense won’t overwhelm anyone, but their defense has been fantastic. They are ninth in the country in opponent scoring, allowing just 63.0 PPG. The question is how that will translate against a team like Duke. The Blue Devils are much larger than Vermont, making it hard to protect the paint and grab rebounds. While they can guard the perimeter well, that won’t be enough if they are forced to drop defenders to help down low.

While the American East Conference is small, going 18-1 since January is incredible. That momentum may not carry them to an upset win, but it will keep this game close.

Duke vs. Vermont Pick

We don’t think Vermont will win this game, but this is too many points to give up, considering Duke’s history. The Catamounts will be brimming with confidence tonight, and their momentum will play a significant role. We expect this game to come down to the final minutes, so we are happy to take the 12 points to roll with Vermont.
