Friday night’s slate features two marquee matchups: Michigan State versus Michigan and Marquette versus Villanova.
These ranked bouts will feature some tremendous players, whom we will back in this college basketball best player props today article.
Keep reading below to discover which players we are high (or low) on and why!
After a red-hot start to the season, Kam Jones has cooled off, particularly from behind the arc.
In his past 15 games, Jones has shot at merely a 26.1% clip on over six 3-point attempts per game.
Based on Jones’s recent shooting, there would typically not be a ton of value on him to knock down two or more 3s at -195 odds, especially since he has only eclipsed this line in four of his past eight games.
However, Jones has an advantageous matchup on Friday night against a soft Villanova defense, which ranks 207th in opponent 3-point percentage and 319th in opponent 3-point attempts per game this season.
With March quickly approaching, Jones has a terrific opportunity against a porous defense to return to his early-season form and knock down several 3-pointers.
As is the case with most freshmen basketball players who are not named Cooper Flagg, Jase Richardson has had some ups and downs this season on the offensive end of the floor.
However, Richardson has been terrific recently, averaging 16.3 points per game on 53.7% shooting from the field and 37.5% from 3-point land in his past four games.
Richardson’s increase in shooting volume has also been promising, as he is taking 10.3 field goal attempts per game in that stretch.
As the season progresses, Richardson will continue to be leaned on more for his offense. His slashing and finishing abilities give Michigan State an “out” late in the shot clock when its half-court sets are less effective than intended.
Richardson has scored at least 13 points in two of his past four games and should be able to do so again versus a Michigan team that turns the ball over a lot.
Those Wolverine turnovers will allow Richardson to get out and score in transition, which perfectly complements his style, speed, and craft around the rim.
Danny Wolf is one of the most unique players in the country due to his ball-handling, passing, vision, and scoring abilities as a 7-footer.
Therefore, we can expect Spartans head coach Tom Izzo to game plan for the future first-rounder.
Wolf has averaged 12.9 points per game on 51.7% shooting from the floor for the Michigan Wolverines; however, his scoring output at home has actually been underwhelming throughout the season,
In fact, Wolf has only scored 15 or more points in three of the Wolverines’ 12 home games at Crisler Center this season.
While Wolf has eclipsed this line (14.5) in five consecutive games, he will have a tough matchup against a Spartans defense that ranks 13th in adjusted defensive efficiency and is extremely physical.
