One of the many great things about the college basketball season is that there is almost always a game taking place or preparing to take place somewhere. So, fans and bettors alike never have to wait too long for the next game. There is certainly a full slate of college basketball action taking place today.

There is no marquee game scheduled like Duke-Kentucky last night. But several of the nation’s best teams are playing today. The following is our preview and betting recommendation for several of these games.

LeMoyne @ No. 3 UConn

  • Date: Wednesday, November 13

  • Time: 7 p.m. ET

  • Moneyline: LeMoyne NA; UConn NA

  • Point Spread: LeMoyne +37.5 (-102); UConn -37.5 (-120)

  • Total: O/U 150.5 (-110/-110)

All odds are available via FanDuel Sportsbook but are subject to change. Place your bets at FanDuel and claim $150 in bonus bets + 3 months of NBA League Pass.

PICK: UConn -37.5 (-102) at FanDuel

If you are like many fans and bettors, you’ve probably never heard of LeMoyne. But the Dolphins are a mediocre team out of the Northeast Conference that finished 15-17 last season (9-7 in conference play) and only moved up to the NCAA DI level last season (officially on July 1, 2023).

When a sportsbook doesn’t even bother to post a moneyline for a game, like FanDuel, in regard to this contest, that should tell you something. What? Well, that it would be an upset of epic proportions if the underdog, the Dolphins in this case, were to win the game.

You can never count anyone out, but assuming UConn plays to win (and why wouldn’t they?), it should be an easy victory for the Huskies. They’ve bulldozed the two teams they’ve played so far, scoring 90+ points and winning by 36 and 39 points. There is no reason to think this game will be any different.

But do you want to take the chance on the spread or the Total? LeMoyne kept it close against Syracuse, losing by four points (86-82), but was handled by Cal State Northridge 97-75 before winning their first against SUNY-Polytechnic 107-73.

But scoring on those schools and scoring on UConn is like asking your local high school football team to take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

UConn is 47-5 against nonconference opponents since 2020 and 38-13-1 ATS. The OVER is 24-27-1vs. nonconference opponents in the same timeframe. That tells me that there is a greater chance they will cover the spread, and it is harder to say whether to bet the OVER or UNDER.

So far, based on what we saw in their first two games, the Huskies will bring their ‘A’ game no matter who the opponent is.

Kent State @ No. 5 Auburn

  • Date: Wednesday, November 13

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET

  • Moneyline: Kent State +2000; Auburn -7000

  • Point Spread: Kent State +21.5 (-102); Auburn -21.5 (-120)

  • Total: O/U 146.5 (-112/-108)

All odds are available via FanDuel Sportsbook but are subject to change.

PICK: Auburn -21.5 (-102) at FanDuel

Kent State was a 17-17 team last season, but they are off to a solid start this year with a pair of wins. Their most recent was a 98-53 shellacking of Miami-Hamilton at home last Friday. The outcome of that game was never in question as they got out to an early 9-0 lead inside of the first couple of minutes and led 50-23 at the half.

However, taking on a team from a satellite campus of a MAC school and facing the N0. 5 Auburn Tigers in Neville Arena is something else entirely.

Auburn was a good team last year, finishing the regular season 27-7 before getting upset in the first round of the NCAA tournament by Yale. But with a talented veteran team coming back this season, expectations are high for the preseason No. 11 team.

They are not messing around this season, either. After a nice warm-up game against Vermont in their season opener (94-43 win), they faced off with No. 4 Houston in their second game last Saturday and took care of business, upsetting the Cougars 74-69.

From what we have seen from both teams, there is no reason to think Kent State can keep up with Auburn. However, you always have to be concerned about how a team will respond after a big win. Will they relax because they feel like they have nothing to worry about, or will they keep their foot on the gas?

Auburn has the toughest nonconference schedule in the country, but not because Kent State is part of it. The Golden Flashes are an experienced, talented team, but they are not quite ready to run with the big dogs. They may keep it interesting in the first half, but Auburn will put them away in the second.

Louisiana vs. No. 8 Houston

  • Date: Wednesday, November 13

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET

  • Moneyline: Louisiana NA; Houston NA

  • Point Spread: Louisiana +30.5 (-102); Houston -30.5 (-120)

  • Total: O/U 136.5 (-105/-115)

All odds are available via FanDuel Sportsbook but are subject to change.

PICK: Houston -30.5 (-120) at FanDuel

Houston has developed into a national powerhouse under Kelvin Sampson and is considered a national title contender by many. But you could also say they’ve regressed over the last few years, going from “great” and playing in the Final Four (2020-21) to back-to-back Sweet 16 exits.

So, they are coming into the 2024-25 season on a machine, and with an experienced and talented roster, the sky is the limit for Houston. However, they’ve already hit a snag, losing their first game in just the second of the season, 74-69 to Auburn.

To get back on the right side of the scoreboard, they face a 1-1 Louisiana team coming off an 82-65 win over UT-Dallas (a Texas affiliate). However, Houston has had some trouble with the Ragin’ Cajuns over the years, splitting the all-time series with them 3-3.

But Louisiana does not belong in a scrimmage vs. Houston, let alone a legitimate NCAA game. Houston had the best defensive unit in the country last season. While it is too soon to say that will be the case this season, we know they are pretty darn good.

They’ll be looking to reassert themselves as one of the best teams in the country when the Ragin Cajuns come to town tonight. Fans can expect this one to get ugly early.
