  • Texas A&M won the last matchup in 2021, 35-14

  • A&M could get its starting quarterback back from an injury

The No. 25 Texas A&M Aggies are playing host to the No. 9 Missouri Tigers in an SEC showdown with bad intentions on Saturday.

Texas A&M has one of the most intimidating home-field environments and is riding a four-game win streak with two wins coming against conference opponents.

Mizzou is a perfect 4-0 and took last week off to regroup and refocus after it narrowly beat Vanderbilt 30-27 in overtime.

Here, we will analyze the matchup and share our best Texas A&M vs. Missouri betting picks.

Texas A&M vs Missouri Predictions

Texas A&M vs. Mizzou Predictions

A&M could finally make the switch back to Conner Weigman under center as he continues to return from an AC joint injury suffered in a Week 1 loss against Notre Dame. Freshman Marcel Reed has filled in well and racked up 203.8 total yards and eight total touchdowns in four games as Weigman’s reprieve, though he completed just 54.4 percent of his passes.

The Aggie defense gave up 20 points per game (32nd) and 5.4 yards per play (58th). They rank 38th in EPA per play and just forced three turnovers in a 21-17 win against Arkansas its last time on the field.

The Tigers scored 31.7 points per game (40th) with a near-even distribution of pass and run. They averaged 5.2 yards per carry, while senior QB Brady Cook threw for 236.5 yards per game, four touchdowns, and an interception.

The defense lost lots of important personnel, both players and coaches, from its 2023 roster. They held opponents to 16 points per game (16th) and 4.6 yards per play (29th) but also just gave up 27 points to a fairly limited Vanderbilt offense.

Texas A&M vs. Missouri Pick

Looking at Missouri’s schedule, it’s hard to believe that they’re in the same conference as Texas, Georgia, Florida, and most other SEC teams with difficult schedules. This will likely prove to be the second-hardest game on their schedule with the only exception being a late-October trip to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama.

As a result, the Tigers have a real chance to make the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff if they can win this game and only lose to Bama. That’s despite this year’s team appearing to be worse than the one that preceded it in 2023.

Missouri found itself struggling to deal with two mobile quarterbacks, Boston College’s Thomas Castellanos and Vandy’s Diego Pavia, which it almost assuredly spent lots of time addressing during the bye week.

Lucky for them, Weigman is not much of a scrambler. He also will be making his first start since September 6, when he went 11/14 for 125 yards and two touchdowns against McNeese.

If Weigman can’t return to the field, the fleet-of-foot Reed figures to be back under center. He ran for 230 yards in four games and averaged 5.5 yards per carry, which could prove to be problematic for the visitors.

Mizzou is going to need a strong game from its front line to force A&M out of the run and into the pass. They’ll also need to find ways to manufacture explosive plays in a hospital environment.

We believe that Mizzou is overvalued and will come crashing back down to earth. The lower-ranked team is favored for a reason, and we like them to win and cover.
