SMU vs Nevada 2024 08 24 Predictions

SMU vs. Nevada Predictions

The Wolf Pack brought in the Mountain West’s third-ranked transfer portal class and have a new start under coach Jeff Choate, who helped elevate a 5-6 Montana State team to 11-4 after four years with the program.

He also spent the last three years working as a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Texas and should bring new life to a Wolf Pack team, especially in front of their home crowd.

Meanwhile, SMU recruited the nation’s 32nd-ranked portal class and brought back important returners such as QB Preston Stone (3,197 yards, 28 TDs, 6 INTs) and DE Elijah Roberts (37 tackles, 9.5 sacks).

The offense was 10th in points per game (36.4) and the defense was 14th in points allowed (19.2), giving them tremendous balance on both sides.

SMU vs. Nevada Pick: Nevada +27.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Nevada is looking for a breath of fresh air under a coach that has a proven record to elevate a losing program and that was a crucial part of a reigning national semifinalist, Texas.

SMU’s overall strength on both sides of the ball leads us to believe they will win, but we believe in Nevada’s ability to hold up on the spread through their new identity and in front of their home crowd.
