  • Georgia beat Texas 30-15 on October 19

  • Georgia is fifth in the nation, and Texas is second

  • The Longhorns enter the SEC Championship as a slight favorite

The SEC Championship is on the line on Saturday in Atlanta. The fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will try to beat Texas for the second time this season and clinch a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff

In the first game, both Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers played poorly. However, the Bulldogs' defensive front dominated the game for four quarters, leading to the win.

Even though the Bulldogs are underdogs, they’re still the authority in the SEC. This is Texas’ first season in the Big 12, and until they take down the top dog, they’re still second in our mind.

Georgia vs Texas Predictions

Georgia vs. Texas Predictions

The Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns rematch is expected to be one of the best conference championship games of the weekend. Both teams are in the College Football Playoff, but this game is about seeding and bragging rights.

The winner of the SEC Championship receives an automatic bye, so we expect both teams to come out on fire. Georgia and Texas are entering Saturday, coming off huge wins in Week 14.

The Bulldogs beat their in-state rivals, Georgia Tech, in eight overtime periods. The Bulldogs fell behind 17-0 and rallied back over four quarters.

Georgia was down 14 with five minutes left in the game and still found a way to win. Carson Beck was fantastic in the second half and threw five touchdown passes to lead his team to victory.

While Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King ran all over the Bulldogs, Georgia’s defense made the necessary stops to win the game. Many people have criticized Georgia for being in a tight game against an average ACC school, but we look at it differently.

The Bulldogs are among the few teams in the country that can overcome significant deficits. While Georgia must start fast to have a chance on Saturday, they have excellent resiliency.

Texas traveled to College Station last week and dominated the Aggies. The offense wasn’t spectacular, but they still found a way to do enough to win.

Quinn Ewers was 17-28 for 218 yards with one touchdown and interception. However, the Longhorns' run game with Quintrevion Wisner lifted them to victory.

He carried the ball 33 times for 186 yards. Look for him to build on this performance on Saturday. Texas' best route to victory is by running the ball, and if they can do this, they should have a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.

Texas had no offensive rhythm in the first meeting against Georgia. Although they have improved on this side of the ball, they haven’t played anyone noteworthy this season besides Georgia.

While their win over #20 Texas A&M was impressive, the Aggies' offense could be better, and their quarterback is a freshman. Texas should have dominated the game, so we can’t take a lot from how they played in this game.

Georgia is entering the SEC Championship with more momentum, but the Longhorns have been a more consistent team. Georgia’s peak is better than Texas', but steady play wins championships.

Georgia vs. Texas My Pick

This should be a very close game, which could come down to the final possession. We trust Beck more than Ewers, but Texas’ run game is what we can back in this game.

Steve Sarkisian is a great motivator and knows how to build his team up with an underdog mentality despite being favored. Look for the Longhorns to commit to the run game, leading to a victory.
