The college football national championship game has been decided as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish for college football supremacy.
I picked Ohio State -5.5 and Penn State +2.5 in last week's parlay.
While Ohio State covered, Penn State fell just short, losing on a game-winning field goal.
I’m focusing on a Same Game Parlay consisting of three legs with just one game left.
This parlay has odds of +376, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Notre Dame has gotten some relatively easy matchups throughout the College Football Playoff.
Not to take anything away from their success, but they played Indiana at home and Georgia with a backup quarterback.
Their first true test was Penn State, and they escaped with a 27-24 win in a back-and-forth game.
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar threw an interception with less than a minute to go in favorable territory, setting up the game-winning field goal.
Now, they’re going up against the best team in the nation, the Buckeyes.
To get here, the Buckeyes put up 42 at home against Tennessee, pulverized the No. 1 team in the country in Oregon, and beat Texas by double digits.
Notre Dame does have the second-best pass defense in the country, allowing just 165.3 passing yards per game, but they haven’t faced an offense like Ohio State.
Ohio State has three NFL-caliber receivers: Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Emeka Egbuka. Quarterback Will Howard is averaging over 300 passing yards per game in the College Football Playoff.
They also have two players out of the backfield, Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, who could start in the NFL right now.
Let’s say Notre Dame can keep up with their passing attack.
They’re still squishy against the run, allowing 135.2 rushing yards per game, which is 42nd in the nation.
Against Penn State, they allowed three rushing touchdowns to Nicholas Singleton.
Judkins and Henderson have a combined eight rushing scores in the College Football Playoff.
As for Notre Dame’s offense, they rely almost solely on the run, averaging 210.8 rushing yards per game.
Ohio State is third in run defense, allowing just 89.9 rushing yards per outing.
They’ve allowed an average of 62.3 rushing yards per game to Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas. In fact, Oregon finished with -23 rushing yards.
Speaking of their defense, they should be able to get pressure on Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard often.
Notre Dame is turning to backup left tackle Tosh Baker, who is replacing Anthonie Knapp, who is out with a knee injury.
He’ll have to slow down two potential top-50 2025 NFL Draft picks in Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau.
Unfortunately, I’m expecting a bit of a blowout.
Ohio State wins by double digits and covers.

While Notre Dame boasts the second-best pass defense in the nation, I have concerns about their outside cornerbacks, specifically Karson Hobbs, matching up with Smith.
He was held to one catch for three yards against Texas, but there were moments of Texas bracketing Smith with three defenders.
Sure, that could happen again, but that’ll just allow another receiver, like Carnell Tate last week, to break out.
Still, I don’t think Notre Dame has the overall secondary talent Texas does.
Hobbs has played 70 snaps in coverage this season. He, like Smith, is a freshman.
Prior to Texas, he had five touchdowns over the three previous games, including four in both College Football Playoff games.
Against Oregon, he had seven catches for 187 yards.
He’ll rebound well in this game and find the end zone.

The Buckeyes backfield is loaded with talent, and that’s led by Judkins.
To this point, he’s had 49 more carries than Henderson and two more touchdowns.
Throughout the College Football Playoff, he has four touchdowns, with two coming last week against Texas despite just nine carries.
Again, Notre Dame is 42nd in run defense and was beaten up by a top-level running back last week.
Not only that, but Notre Dame has allowed 197 rushing yards or more in three of their last five games.
Judkins is averaging just 12 carries per game this season, but he’s been wildly productive when he does get the ball in his hands.
