The Big Ten East will be decided when Michigan hosts Ohio State on Saturday at the Big House. There are a few things to discuss heading into this game. The first is Ryan Day’s future as the head coach of the Buckeyes.
There are a lot of rumors linking the head coach to the vacant job at Texas A&M. We haven’t heard him come out and say if he is staying, but I don’t believe this is much of a distraction. Ohio State can win a National Championship, and whether Day is staying or leaving, he isn’t letting the A&M boosters get in his way.
There is also the storyline that Day can’t beat Michigan. He is 1-2 against the Wolverines and has lost the past two outings. Ohio State has much to prove in this game, but they have the team to beat Michigan.
Neither team has been tested this season outside of a game against Penn State. I don’t believe the Nittany Lions are in the same class as either of these teams because they have a terrible offense. Michigan showed a lot of flaws against Maryland last week, which is concerning as a bettor.
There are plenty of areas for Ohio State to beat Michigan. Maryland created explosive plays. They averaged eight yards per completion, and the Buckeyes can do the same thing with Marvin Harrison Jr.
Michigan beat Ohio State last season with a lot of explosive plays. The Buckeyes will give that right back to them with Harrison Jr. down the field. He caught seven passes for 120 yards in this game last year and will do it again.
Defensively, Ohio State is more prepared for this contest, and JJ McCarthy has struggled the past few weeks. Relying on Blak Corrum isn’t the answer for Michigan because of how good the Buckeyes are against the run. This should be a close, physical game, but if Ohio State creates a few explosive plays, they can win outright.

Florida State has been dominant, and they have National Championship aspirations for 2023. However, they have been struck with a ton of adversity, losing QB Jordan Travis to a season-ending leg injury against North Alabama. This injury couldn’t have been worse for the Seminoles because he is their ticket to winning.
Backup Tate Rodemaker came in for Florida State and was 13 of 23 for 217 yards with two touchdowns during the game. However, Florida in The Swamp presents a more formidable challenge than a 3-8 FCS school at home.
The Gators are in a similar situation without Graham Mertz in this game. He has been a solid starter this season for Florida, but the Gators have a run game. They’re going to lean on this for four quarters behind Trevor Etienne, who has 121 carries for 710 yards with eight touchdowns.
He has averaged six yards per carry this season, which is outstanding for a sophomore in the SEC. Florida State is susceptible to the ground game, as they allow nearly 140 rushing yards per game.
Florida needs to win to play in a bowl game, and they have their best chance at home against a team with everything to lose. This is too big of a spread at home for the Gators.
