The Golden State Warriors visit the San Antonio Spurs, who are having a special anniversary match at the Alamodome for their 50th year! The San Antonio Spurs are currently 14th in the Western Conference with a 13-29 overall record. The Golden State Warriors are eighth in the Western Conference with a 20-21 overall record.
The San Antonio Spurs may be celebrating a special year, but their season has been anything but special. The Spurs have most recently lost three games in a row, now hosting the Warriors to open a four-game home stand. The Warriors though haven't had the ideal championship-defending season. Golden State are on a three-game losing streak and play the Spurs to open a five-game road trip.

The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs will face off in a meeting between two teams begging to get back into the win column. Playing the host, the Spurs hope to cut their three-game losing streak off with a performance at the Alamodome. Golden State are slowly returning to health, but they will still be lacking their top two young frontcourt players in this matchup.
The Warriors have lost their last three games to three, supposedly, weaker teams. They've allowed 120.7 points per game on 48.3% shooting from the field and 43.4% from three-point range. The Spurs are in a similar boat, but their three losses have come against top two-seeded teams in the Eastern and Western Conference. Unfortunately, they've still allowed 125.7 points per game on 50.2% from the field and 48.8% from three over their last three games.
Neither of these teams are famed for their defensive play, but the Warriors certainly have the edge on the offensive side of the ball. Golden State dominated the Spurs in their last meeting, and you shouldn't expect much less when they face off again. With San Antonio's high-tempo but average overall efficiency, the Warriors should be more than comfortable at pace.
Both the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are what you'd call scoring oriented so far this season, rather than succeeding off their defensive quality of previous seasons. The Warriors enter this game with the league's 17th-rated offence and 20th-rated defence. The Spurs rank 28th in the league in offence while ranking 30th overall in defence.
The Golden State Warriors average a combined points total of 234.4 with a minus-1.0 points differential. The San Antonio Spurs average a combined points total of 233.5 with a minus-8.5 point differential. The combination of these two teams don't project to clear 240.5 by the numbers alone.
When these two teams last met, they combined to score just 227 points despite the Warriors going for 132. Golden State have averaged 111.0 points through their last three games while also allowing 120.7. San Antonio have allowed 125.7 points per game while allowing 119.3 over their last three. While the numbers suggest they could combine to come close to 240.5, their past performances against each other and current form project otherwise.
