The Jazz looks certain to bounce back after their poor defensive showing last time out. The Celtics took care of business in their last game, but their offensive game doesn’t seem refined enough to take down the Jazz.

The Utah Jazz suffered a loss to the Golden State Warriors and the precursor to their loss was in their inability to take care of the ball.
Against the Warriors the Jazz turned the ball over 14 times, 12 of those were from steals by the Warriors’ active defense. If they want to secure a victory against the Celtics, they can’t be so careless on offense.
Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Joe Ingles are particularly at fault, as they accounted for 11 of the team’s 14 turnovers. Against the Celtics, their weaker playmakers can’t afford to get caught up against a switch-heavy team.
The Boston Celtics will have their hands full when they face off against the Utah Jazz. Not only will they have to contend with their spectacular offensive play, but they’ll need to contain one of the best shooting teams in the league.
The Jazz are third overall in three-point percentage and first in three-pointers made per game. The Celtics do a decent job of defending the perimeter, but they still have a monumental task in front of them.
Much of their success will come from how Boston controls Rudy Gobert. If the big man is outpaced by the Celtics lineup, they’ll have a chance. But if the Frenchman finds a rhythm in the paint, forces doubles, and opens up opportunities for perimeter opportunities, it’ll be a long night for the C’s.

The Utah Jazz struggled against the Warriors, mostly due to their suffocating defense and transition game. Against a Celtics team that prefers the half-court, star man Donovan Mitchell can’t afford to waste opportunities.
While Mitchell still posted 24 points, he shot just 38.9% from the field and turned the ball over as many times as he made an assist.
Mitchell is usually at a size disadvantage, but against a soft rim-protecting team like the Celtics, he has the go-ahead to attack the rim. Using Rudy Gobert, who had 28 rebounds in his last game, on screens will be crucial to their success.
Tristan Thompson turns 30 YOpic.twitter.com/xiD5piKfVl
— Boston Sports Info (@bostonsportsinf) March 13, 2021
It’s easy to look to Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum as the key players for the Celtics, but Tristan Thompson’s defensive responsibilities will be put to the test against Rudy Gobert.
The Canadian is the Celtics’ leader in rebounding and it is mostly on his shoulders as he is usually the lone big man on for Brad Stevens. He’s not much of a finisher and he can’t shoot, so controlling Gobert is his sole priority.
If Thompson can’t handle the Frenchman, expect the Celtics to move toward a perimeter-oriented lineup in hopes of outrunning the Jazz.
