In his 17th professional season at 36 years old, Kevin Durant is improving. Capitalizing on the new system created by Mike Budenholzer, Durant's scoring quality is on full display. Durant will be Phoenix's offensive focus against a Clippers team missing Kawhi Leonard, though they will send plenty of athletic and intelligent defenders to stop him.
Through his first four games, Durant is averaging 29.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 threes per game on 53.3% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. In his last game, a win over the Lakers, Durant had his third 30-point game in a row, putting up 30 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four blocks on 55.0% shooting. Against a Clippers team on the second leg of a back-to-back, expect Durant to be aggressive early on the offensive side of the ball.
Durant has scored 25 or more points in all four games this season. In three games against the Clippers last season, he scored 25 or more just once. However, shorthanded and fatigued after playing Wednesday night, the Clippers' defense lacks the means to limit Durant in the scoring column.

It’s been a long time since James Harden took the starring role in a team’s offense, but he’s putting up his best scoring year since 2021 and looks more than capable of maintaining the role until Kawhi Leonard returns from injury. Facing the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night, Harden will be responsible for carrying the offensive burden while also creating opportunities for his teammates.
Through his first four games this season, Harden is averaging 23.5 points, 11.3 assists, and 2.5 threes per game on 35.5% from the field and 27.0% from three. In his last game, a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Harden put up 19 points, ten assists, and five threes. He hasn’t been particularly efficient from the field, but there’s no doubting Harden’s scoring threat when he’s on the court.
Harden cleared 23.5 points in his first game of the season, which was a loss to the Suns, but he hasn’t done so since. In two appearances against Phoenix last season, Harden hit under 23.5 points twice, winning both matches. Expect Harden to hit under 23.5 points again, as his playmaking has taken the spotlight through the early season.

Devin Booker has thrived in his adjusted role with the Phoenix Suns through the season's first four games. A tremendous three-level scorer with solid passing instincts, Booker is core to the Suns offense. With another playmaker in the mix, Tyus Jones, Booker has shown out on the scoring end – a place he thrived on in his last game.
Booker is averaging 23.0 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 threes per game through the first two weeks of the NBA season. He's coming off his best performance, putting up 33 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three made threes on 47.8% from the field and 37.5% from three. While his early-season assist numbers have taken a dip, the threat of his offense will only improve his playmaking as the season wears on.
Booker has cleared 4.5 assists in two of his four appearances this season, including his most recent game, a win over the Lakers. In four performances against the Clippers last season, Booker collected over 4.5 assists three times. Expect another well-rounded stat line from Booker, as the newfound balance of the Suns has him producing efficiently.

While he’s only played four games so far, Ivica Zubac is having his best season as a professional. The 27-year-old Croatian is the only center listed on the LA Clippers roster this season. While the burden on Zubac’s shoulders is substantial, he’s been brilliant through the Clippers’ few games and has been a significant factor in their 2-2 start.
Zubac has appeared in four games, averaging 18.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game on 55.4% efficiency. In his most recent game, a loss to the Trail Blazers, Zubac put up six points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks while converting on just two of his seven field goal attempts. While he doesn’t have a diverse role with the LA Clippers, Zubac has proven efficient in working to open up opportunities for lead guards James Harden and Norman Powell.
Zubac has collected over 10.5 rebounds in three of his four appearances this season. In three appearances against the Suns last year, he hit over 10.5 rebounds just once. The Suns present a difficult challenge for the Suns, and Zubac will be asked to control the boards for LA when the matchup tips off.
