The Memphis Grizzlies opened the Summer League as one of the teams to watch. While most were interested in seeing their 2024 first-round pick Zach Edey take the court. He played just nine minutes before being shut down due to injury. Second in the standings in scoring, the Grizzlies have been a force from day one of the Summer League.
Through five games, incoming sophomore GG Jackson led Memphis on the court. He averaged 20.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.0 threes per game on 40.4% from the field and 34.1% from three-point range. Flanking him was Scotty Pippen Jr., who was the playmaking hub of the Grizzlies as he averaged 20.0 points, 8.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 threes on 49.2% from the field and 41.2% from three.
Memphis will take on an incredibly potent Miami Heat team. The depth of their production and shooting will be challenges for the Grizzlies. The Heat shot 50.0% while making 16 threes in their last game, a 29-point blowout, which Memphis must limit if they hope to earn the 2024 Summer League Championship.

When the competition began, the Miami Heat weren’t among the top contenders for the Summer League championship. While they had star sophomore Jaime Jaquez Jr. leading the squad, Miami lacked notable depth. They proved the league wrong, though, as the Heat Culture seems to have trickled down to the Summer League team after they went 5-0 to reach the Championship game.
Although he’s only appeared in two matches, Jaime Jaquez Jr. has led Miami with 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 58.1% shooting from the field and 42.9% from three. However, one of the biggest surprises of the Summer League was rookie Kel’el Ware, who has averaged an impressive 17.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game on 58.6% shooting.
Miami will take on a Memphis Grizzlies team with two of the most dynamic contributors in the Summer League: GG Jackson and Scotty Pippen Jr. The pair have almost single-handedly carried Memphis to victory at times, and their playmaking has created quality opportunities for their role players – as seen by the team’s 24 assists in a win over the hard-nosed Clippers last time out. If Miami can’t limit the Memphis duo, they’ll have difficulty finding victory in this matchup.
