How Can the Sixers Beat the Nets?

In their last game, the Sixers put on a poor performance against a shorthanded Miami Heat team. While they put up a fight late, their reason for their loss can be found in their three-point defence.

In their last game, the Sixers allowed their opponents to shoot 40.9% from deep on 18 made three-point field goals. Their defence was pulled apart, as the Heat’s offence generated 25 assists on 35 field goals.

With the level of attention that Kevin Durant garners, the Sixers must be careful with how the play out their defensive scheme. Shoring up their perimeter defence is the best way to beat the Nets.

Sixers Key Player: (C) Joel Embiid

The Sixers are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Miami Heat. While he was questionable to even appear in the game, he put in a long shift despite the inefficiency.

Embiid posted 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists in 37 minutes of play. Unfortunately, he failed them in the shooting department, going just 5 of 13 from the field and 1 of 5 from three-point range.

In a game where the Nets have a number of energetic and young big men, Embiid will need to put on a strong performance. His production, compared with Durant’s, may determine the winner of this match.

How Can the Nets Beat the Sixers?

The Nets are coming off of a tremendous, overtime win over the Toronto Raptors. While Kevin Durant and Patty Mills starred, it was their young role players that ensured their victory.

Kevin Durant and Patty Mills led the scoring effort with a combined 64 points, but head coach Steve Nash found 43 points and 30 rebounds from the likes of David Duke, Nicolas Claxton, and Kessler Edwards.

Without any guarantees around who will be available for the Nets, they will need a similar all-around effort from their role players to steal a win from Philadelphia. One thing is for certain, the quality of the Sixers bench is a step up from their last game.

Nets Key Player: (F) Kevin Durant

There are times when a team is so outmatched that you’d think that the outcome is guaranteed. But Kevin Durant is so talented that he is coming off of a game where he led an eight-man Nets team to a victory.

In his last game, Durant met the challenge with Hall of Fame level tenacity. He posted a 34 point, 13 rebound, and 11 assist triple-double in 48 minutes of play.

Off the back of a performance like that, you have to believe anything is possible for the former league MVP. With his scoring and playmaking ability, the Nets rarely seem shorthanded.
