It sounds rather simple, but when the Sixers face the Celtics they need to win the battle inside. Having Embiid back in the lineup is a great help, but it needs to be a team effort.
The Sixers are coming off of a game where they were matched on the boards, 55 to 55. While Kanter and Williams are strong rebounders, neither can match the rebounding tenacity of Embiid and Drummond.
With a healthy lineup finally back on the court, the Sixers can’t be afraid to mix it up with the Celtics. A perimeter-centric team, Boston could have a tough time if the Sixers dominate the paint early.

Joel Embiid missed quite a bit of time through the early season, but he seems back in form after his recent showings. Against the Celtics, Embiid will need to take advantage of his quality in the paint.
Embiid is coming off of a modest night against the Magic. He posted 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks in just 29 minutes of play. He wasn’t hyper-efficient from the field, but his ability to get to the free throw line made up for it.
The Sixers All-Star has a tendency to float to the perimeter when he isn’t engaged, but he can’t afford to do so against Boston. With the Celtics’ starting center’s participation in doubt, Embiid could have a massive night.
The Boston Celtics are coming off of a dominant win over the Toronto Raptors. While Jayson Tatum struggled from the field, the rest of their lineup more than made up the difference.
When Boston face Philadelphia, they need many contributors. Despite star man Jayson Tatum scoring just 8 points on 2 of 16 shooting in his last game, the Celtics had five other players that posted 15 points or more in his stead.
With few options on the offensive side of the ball, we’ll need to see some vintage Celtics ball movement. Of course, it won’t just be about scoring the ball, as Boston must do their best to contain the Sixers’ shooters.

The Boston Celtics are coming off of an impressive win over the Toronto Raptors. While the Celtics struggled offensively, it was their veteran Marcus Smart who stepped up when needed.
Smart posted 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in 36 minutes of play. He also hit 4 three-point field goals while icing the game with an 8-point fourth quarter.
Smart will be asked to contain many of the Sixers’ perimeter threats, but he’ll also need to be a threat himself on the offensive end.
