The Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks have high ambitions in the Eastern Conference. However, neither team has been able to reach their intended position through the early portions of the season.
After 18 games, the New York Knicks own a 9-7-2 ATS Record, establishing a 56.3% coverage rate and a +1.9 ATS +/-. The Knicks posted a +14.4 points differential in victories and a +5.0 points differential overall. Jalen Brunson leads the team with 24.1 points and 5.2 assists per game on 46.4% from the field and 46.9% from three-point range.
The Toronto Raptors have played 19 games this season, posting a 10-8-1 ATS Record and a cover percentage of 55.6%--right behind the Knicks. They own an ATS +/- of +0.2, a points differential of +10.5 in victories, but a -0.2 differential overall. Pascal Siakam leads the Raptors with 19.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game on 47.9% shooting from the field.
The Knicks list Ryan Arcidiacono (Ankle) as day-to-day going into this match, while the Raptors have listed Christian Koloko (Respiratory) as out without a timetable for his return.

The Toronto Raptors have struggled this season, and much of their success is dictated by the play of third-year forward Scottie Barnes. The 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year has taken a leap with his production this season, and his role as an all-around contributor has never been more apparent. When he faces the Knicks, Toronto needs him to be productive.
One of the ways that Barnes has improved this season is through his shooting. A career 30.7% three-point shooter, Barnes is posting 19.1 points per game this season on 45.2% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. He’s been converting on 1.9 threes per game, hitting 2.0 on 40.9% from the field in victories.
Barnes has cleared 1.5 threes in 11 of his 19 games this season, hitting a career-high five threes in a seven-point victory over the Spurs. Against a Knicks team that would prefer to pack the paint, Barnes will have plenty of opportunity to convert from range.

Gary Trent Jr. has struggled to open the season due to the Raptors’ offensive philosophy change and his plantar fasciitis issues. Trent Jr.’s numbers have taken a hit this year, averaging 11.4 points on 40.1% shooting from the field and 36.8% from three. While he’s still a reasonably efficient shooter, his overall volume, minutes, and efficiency have decreased.
He’s shown promise in his most recent five games, though, clearing 12.5 points four times and averaging 14.3 points and 2.3 threes per game on 45.1% from the field and 33.3% from deep. The Knicks are a hard-nosed defensive team, but their focus on limiting Siakam and Barnes may open the floodgates for Trent Jr. on offense.
