Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Predictions and Pick

The Philadelphia 76ers survived by the skin of their teeth in Game 3, pushing the Raptors to the edge of elimination. However, still with home court and a performance to build on, the Raptors should be able to steal at least one win from the Sixers.

How Can the Sixers Beat the Raptors?

The Philadelphia 76ers have just one more game to win before they can punch their ticket into the second round of the NBA Playoffs. After succeeding in their toughest challenge yet in Game 3, the Sixers must improve on their struggles to stave off Toronto’s last rally.

The Sixers struggled with Toronto’s defence in Game 3, committing 22 turnovers as a team. Their saving grace was the efficiency of their shooting, going 51.4% from the field which helped make up for their errors.

Philadelphia have been able to score efficiently throughout this series, so Toronto’s defence on the perimeter and at the rim shouldn’t bother them. It is how they deal with extended pressure that will determine if they can win this game.

Sixers Key Player: (C) Joel Embiid

MVP candidate Joel Embiid showed off his quality against the Toronto Raptors in Game 3. While he struggled greatly against the Raptors defence, an explosive third quarter and clutch overtime basket rewrote his Game 3 narrative.

Embiid posted 33 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists on 12 of 20 shooting from the field. Despite Philadelphia’s dominance in Games 1 and 2, Embiid’s lack of defensive presence and shocking turnover rate in Game 3 kept the Raptors close.

Without a doubt, Embiid is the best player on the court when the Sixers face the Raptors. If he can score with efficiency and maintain a level head when the defence challenges him, the Sixers should complete their sweep.

How Can the Raptors Beat the Sixers?

The Toronto Raptors are on the edge of elimination, and they can’t afford any mistakes if they want to find a win. No team has come back to win a series after going down 0-3, so the Raptors will need to put in an historic effort.

To beat the Sixers, the Raptors need to find production from their All-Stars. Despite strong defensive efforts in Game 3, Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet combined to shoot just 9 of 29 in the most crucial match of their season.

Role players like Precious Achiuwa and Gary Trent Jr. stepped up, but now it’s time for their leaders to do the same. If the Raptors’ stars can’t produce when it matters most, they don’t have enough to match the red-hot Sixers.

Raptors Key Player: (F) OG Anunoby

While OG Anunoby doesn’t have the NBA Award recognition that his teammates Siakam and VanVleet have, the Raptors’ two-way juggernaut has given Philadelphia issues through three games. If the Raptors want to steal a win, Anunoby must be on point.

In his Game 3 performance, Anunoby posted 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, and a block in 45 minutes of play. He was just 8 of 18 from the field, but his ability to get to the free throw line made up for his misses.

When the Raptors stars struggled in the first quarter, it was Anunoby who stepped up to lead them by scoring 10 of their 29 points. If Anunoby can stay on point to open Game 4, the Raptors have a good chance of staying competitive in this crucial game.
