The Pelicans need to take a win from one of the more inconsistent teams in the Eastern Conference. When they face off, New Orleans must clean up their three-point defence.
In losses, the New York Knicks are much poorer from the three-point line. They shoot an average of 32.3% from three-point range in losses, versus 39.6% in victories. Unfortunately for the Pelicans, they have the 29th ranked three-point defence in the league.
In their last five games, the Knicks have been shooting 38.3% from three while assisting on 59% of their field goals. If the Pelicans can encourage one-on-one offence out of the Knicks, they’ll have a chance on the defensive end.

The New Orleans Pelicans need to put the pressure on the New York Knicks when they go head-to-head. When it comes to scoring, they must find production out of All-Star Brandon Ingram.
In his last game, a loss to the Boston Celtics, Ingram posted 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in 35 minutes of play. Ingram struggled from the floor in his last game, shooting just 31.6% from the field while failing to convert on four three-point field goal attempts.
Considering the Pelicans’ lack of bench production, Ingram must take the lead on the offensive end. Finding good opportunities for himself will only result in better opportunities for Ingram’s teammates.
If the New York Knicks want to beat the New Orleans Pelicans, they need to remain aggressive on the glass. With continued rebounding success, the Pelicans have a great chance against New York.
The New Orleans Pelicans are fifth in the league in rebounding, with 46.1 per game. They own a rebounding average differential of 3.2 per game, mostly due to the combined athleticism of Valanciunas, Hart, and Ingram.
The Knicks are one of the bigger teams in the paint, lining up capable rebounders in Robinson, Randall, and Gibson. While Valanciunas is strong, the Pelicans need to control the glass with a team effort.
Evan Fournier leads the Knicks on a 18-4 run!

The Knicks hired Fournier to be an offensively focused member of their team. In his last game against the Timberwolves, he more than fulfilled that role.
Despite the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Fournier’s posted 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. His efficiency from the field was a bonus, as he was 10 of 17 from the field and 5 of 10 from deep.
The New Orleans Pelicans love to commit to the three-point line, but they’ve been very beatable with good ball movement. Fournier’s perimeter threat should be a top priority for the Knicks’ offence.
