The New York Knicks, if anything, are a very gritty team. Their toughness will be put to the test when they take on one of the Western Conference’s best, the Memphis Grizzlies.
First in the league in rebounding with 49.2 per game, the Memphis Grizzlies are most successful when they dominate the glass. In victories, Memphis outrebound their opponents by an average of 10.5 rebounds per game!
New York don’t slouch on the glass though, ranking 3rd in the association with 46.3 rebounds per game. It’ll take a team effort to control the glass against the Grizzlies, but New York have a group rebounding mentality that give them a great chance.
The New York Knicks will need all hands on deck to take down the Memphis Grizzlies. While they are on a three-game winning streak, wing player Evan Fournier has been rather inconsistent through his last 5 games.
Over his last 5 games, Fournier has averaged just 10.2 points on 36.0% shooting from the field and 30.3% shooting from three-point range. He’s been less involved overall, something the Knicks can’t afford with so many key contributors out.
Against a tough defensive team like the Grizzlies, Fournier’s shooting will be needed in order to open up the court for the likes of Barrett and Randle. The more that Fournier can produce, the more effective the Knicks can be.

The Memphis Grizzlies will be playing a New York Knicks who are in some wonderful form. The Grizzlies will need to push the pace and find some easy baskets in order to beat the Knicks.
In their last three games, the Knicks have held their opponents to 39% shooting from the field and 25.5% shooting from three-point range. Their defensive effort in the halfcourt has held teams to just 17.0 assists per game over their last three.
The Grizzlies can’t afford to be bogged down by the Knicks’ defence. Top of the league in fast break points per game (17.4), there is no game where the Grizzlies’ pace will be more valuable.
The average NBA fan can get so caught up in the brilliance of Ja Morant, that it is easy to lose sight of the successes of Jaren Jackson Jr. The fourth-year forward has bounced back admirably after missing out on the majority of last season due to injury.
In a blowout victory over the Pelicans in his last game, Jackson Jr. posted 22 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the field and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line. He hasn’t found his three-point shooting form from his sophomore season, but he’s improved as the season’s worn on.
Jackson Jr.’s production doesn’t differ too much between wins and losses, but it’s his shooting efficiency that signals their success. Shooting 43.6% and 35.4% from the field and from three, versus 37.5% and 21.2% in losses, it’s clear that his offence will help determine their chances at winning.
