Luka Doncic has opened the season well, helping his Mavericks to a 2-1 start. While the competition he’s faced won’t impress most, at least in their victories, Doncic will use every opportunity to secure a win for his team. After losing to the Suns on Saturday, Doncic and the Mavericks try to get their third win of the season as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In three games, Doncic is averaging 27.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists on 36.1% shooting from the field. His last game, a win over the San Antonio Spurs, saw Doncic put up 28 points, ten rebounds, eight assists, and four threes on 36.0% from the field. Against Minnesota last season, Doncic put up 36.5 points, 10.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 made threes on 50.9% shooting and 36.8% from deep.
It’s too early in the season to say this game will provide a definitive opinion on the Mavericks and Timberwolves lineup. Still, Doncic’s performance will be central to the game regardless. Relishing in this matchup despite the capable wing defenders he comes up against, Doncic will be locked in on the offensive end.

Julius Randle takes the court for the third time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and every victory helps fans understand why Minnesota was comfortable bringing him in. A true iso-option to spell Anthony Edwards on offense, Randle’s grit, intensity, and production have many forgetting he’s entering the season off an injury.
In three games with the Timberwolves, Randle is averaging 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 62.8% from the field and 53.8% from three-point range. In his last game, a win over the Toronto Raptors, Randle put up 24 points, nine rebounds, and five assists on 56.3% shooting overall efficiency. Dallas will be another test for him early in the season.
Randle played against the Mavericks just once last season, but he was impressive. He put up 32.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists on 52.2% from the floor and is looking to build as Minnesota pursues their third straight win. Settling in nicely, look forward to Randle continuing to fill out the stat sheet.

Attempting to bounce back from one of his worst professional seasons last year, Klay Thompson has looked solid as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. It may have just been three games, but Thompson is locked in and thriving off the playmaking prowess of Luka Doncic. Always a threat from deep, Thompson has gotten off to a strong start.
Through his first three games with the Mavericks, Thompson is averaging 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.0 threes per game on 47.7% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. Almost all of his work comes from the three-point line, posting 18 points, four rebounds, and four made threes in Dallas’ most recent win against the Jazz.
In four games against the Timberwolves last season, Thompson averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.3 threes on 29.1% efficiency from the field. Individually, Minnesota has the players to limit Thompson on offense. However, a solid start to the season and a renewal in his shooting touch have impressed many as Thompson continues to try to build with his new team.

Donte DiVincenzo came to the Minnesota Timberwolves in controversial fashion, but he’s already shown why his addition to the roster was valuable. A talented two-way player who is also a sharpshooter from three-point range, DiVincenzo complements the Edwards-Randle-led Timberwolves perfectly.
DiVincenzo is averaging 11.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 rebounds on 33.3% shooting in his first three games with Minnesota. He’s still trying to settle into the Minnesota offense, putting up 16 points and four threes in his last game, a win over Toronto, despite hitting just five of his 15 shot attempts. His passing has been a constant, though, registering at least two assists in all three appearances.
DiVincenzo played just two games against Dallas last season, but he was impressive. In 36.5 minutes per contest, DiVincenzo averaged 27.5 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 6.0 threes per game. Despite his recent shooting inconsistencies, DiVincenzo is involved enough that clearing 14.5 PTS+AST should be pretty likely, given the matchup in front of him.
