The Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics went at it in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics emerged victorious, taking the early lead and never looking back. Dallas’ offense wasn’t up to standard in Game 1, so expect them to search for their scoring form while trying to level the series. Two of the postseason’s best two-way teams, don’t expect their scoring total to be as low as Game 1.
In 97 regular and postseason games, the Boston Celtics have posted a 51-46-0 Over Record, tenth in the NBA. On the other end of the league table, the Dallas Mavericks posted a 45-54-1 Over Record, ranking 25th. Boston has hit the over in three of its last five games, and Dallas has in four of its previous five.
The Dallas Mavericks’ injury list has become shorter, with just Greg Brown II (Personal) listed as OUT, while Luka Doncic (Ankle/Knee) is still DAY-TO-DAY after playing Game 1. On the other end of the court, the Boston Celtics have a clean injury report, with every player available for Game 2.
Bet on the Mavericks vs Celtics Total (-110) at FanDuel
Luka Doncic was one of the few bright spots for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1, and even he wasn’t without his faults. After a blowout loss to the Celtics to open the NBA Finals, Doncic will be heavily relied upon to keep Dallas competitive as their role players try to find their form.
Through the playoffs, Doncic is averaging 28.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 3.4 threes per game on 44.0% from the field and 34.3% from three-point range. In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Doncic put up 30 points, ten rebounds, and four threes, shooting 46.2% from the field and 33.3% from deep.
Doncic is a -195 to score 30+ points when he faces the Celtics in Game 2. He has scored 30+ points in back-to-back games and nine of this season's 18 playoff games. The Mavericks' role players struggled in Game 1, so expect Doncic to maintain his offensive aggression regardless of their form.
Bet on Luka Doncic Props (-195) at FanDuel
Kristaps Porzingis missed ten straight playoff games due to injury but returned for Game 1 of the NBA Finals to sway the game in Boston’s favor. He couldn’t have returned better to the court, and now Boston will ask him to maintain his form after a stellar Game 1 showing.
In just five playoff games this season, Porzingis has averaged 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 threes, and 1.8 blocks per game on 44.9% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range. In his return to the lineup, Porzingis posted 20 points, six rebounds, and two threes on 61.5% shooting in 20 minutes of play.
Porzingis is -150 to score 15+ points in Game 2 against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks. He has scored 15+ points in three of his last five games, his only appearances this postseason. Porzingis showed the value of his shooting and size in Game 1, something the Mavericks don’t look equipped to limit when Game 2 tips off.
