The Knicks don’t look like they’ll be able to contain the Nets, especially considering Brooklyn are averaging almost 120 points per game on 50% shooting from the field in their last four games.

The New York Knicks showed some impressive maturity in their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite a slow start, they came back to win the last three quarters to seal themselves a victory.
The Knicks need to remain composed against a Nets team that is certain to go on a number of runs against them. New York showed their quality by allowing only 37 field-goals against the Thunder, after allowing 12 of 17 shooting in the first quarter.
It will come down to their defensive quality and so far, the Knicks have the fourth-best defense in the NBA. They are unlikely to outgun the Nets, but they will give themselves a chance if they can keep it close during their opponents’ runs.
The Brooklyn Nets have been dominant for most of the season, with few teams able to match their offensive output. However, they’ve shown the propensity to allow teams to keep up with them, due to their occasional lack of effort on the glass.
In their last game against the Detroit Pistons, the Brooklyn Nets allowed 12 offensive rebounds on 89 field-goal attempts. Being outrebounded 35 to 47 fuelled the Pistons late, though unsuccessful, comeback run.
The Nets won’t get a break against the Knicks either. New York is fifth in the league in rebounds per game, led by glass-cleaners Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and Nerlens Noel. If Brooklyn wants to secure a victory, they can’t overlook their defensive responsibilities.
RJ BARRETT…What a move + slam. ??
— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) March 12, 2021
New York Knicks guard RJ Barrett has come alive in his last three games. While his consistency isn’t where head coach Tom Thibodeau would like it, the Canadian is more than willing to challenge anyone with the ball in his hand.
In his last three games, Barrett is averaging 25.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game on 61.2% shooting from the field. The game-changer in those three matches was his three-point shooting, where he shot 30% on 3.3 attempts per game.
The Knicks will need all the offensive support they can get when they face the Nets. Barrett will be key in not only scoring but also in creating for his teammates to keep up with Brooklyn’s scoring.
Kyrie put it on a plate for DeAndre Jordan ? pic.twitter.com/dKUBXjHK4D
— NBA TV (@NBATV) March 14, 2021
DeAndre Jordan is a far cry from his three-time All-NBA and two-time All-Defensive form, but for the Brooklyn Nets he has a key role as their primary interior presence on both ends of the court.
In the Nets’ last match against the Pistons, Jordan did as much as the Nets ask of him. He contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, one block, and one steal on seven of eight shooting from the field.
Against an interior-oriented team like the Knicks, Jordan will get his fair share of minutes once again. To help the Nets to victory, Jordan will have to be productive on both ends of the court.
