Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls Betting Pick

The Miami Heat struggled through the second half of the regular season but picked it up to close the campaign. The Bulls got the better of them this year, but all eyes are on experienced Heat members like Adebayo, Herro, and Wiggins going into their Play-In Tournament matchup. A methodical pace and a shortened rotation will benefit the Heat in this matchup, which aims to slow down the revitalized Bulls with their retooled lineup.

Miami Heat Preview

The Miami Heat qualified for the Play-In Tournament because of the East's weakness in the bottom third of the table. They finished 10th in the conference. They still boast an impressive defense, but their offense will be under the microscope on Wednesday night.

A capable defensive unit, the Heat allow just 110.0 points per game (7th of 30) while sending their opponents to the line 17.9 times (2nd of 30). Their offense causes concern, scoring just 110.6 points per contest (24th of 30) ahead of facing a Bulls squad that outscored them by +7.3 on average this season.

The Miami Heat struggled against the spread this season, posting a 38-43-1 ATS Record, 23rd in the NBA. They own a 46.9% cover percentage, a +0.6 margin of victory, and a -0.1 ATS +/- this season.

Miami's primary concern in this matchup is the scoring end, so all eyes are on Tyler Herro. The versatile guard averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.3 threes per game on 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from three. In three appearances against the Bulls, he put up 24.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting just 27.0% from three–with nothing to gain from a loss, so expect a volume-shooting night from Herro.

Chicago Bulls Preview

Despite finishing with a modest final record, the Chicago Bulls were among the best-performing teams in the regular season's second half. Going 17-10 to close out the season, Chicago earned home-court advantage for their first match of the NBA Play-In Tournament.

The Chicago Bulls will rely on their top-rated offense from the second half of the season, averaging 121.5 points and 14.6 threes per game on 48.1% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point range. Miami isn't a strong offensive team, but Chicago can't allow their opponents to run with them, getting burned at times while allowing 116.7 points per contest on 45.5% shooting to close the regular season.

Through the 82-game regular season, the Bulls were strong against the spread, putting up a 43-37-2 ATS Record, ranking them seventh in the NBA. They had a 53.8% cover percentage, a -1.6 margin of victory, and a +2.0 ATS +/- this season.

The Bulls employ a free-flowing offense, as Australian guard Josh Giddey stood out as they closed the season. He averaged 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 1.9 threes per game post-All-Star break. He averaged a triple-double with 26.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 10.0 assists through three games against the Heat this season, so expect another standout performance on Wednesday night.
