The Dallas Mavericks are coming off of an impressive win over the Los Angeles Lakers. While they came away with a victory, they could adjust their approach with some key players questionable for this match.
Against the Lakers, the Mavericks were only able to score 23 in each of the first two frames. They were able to outscore their opponents by 27 in the second half, mostly due to a massive effort from Dwight Powell.
With Doncic, Kleber, Porzingis, and Richardson listed as questionable for this match, Rick Carlisle’s team can’t afford to come out of the gate slow. Sacramento is a fast-paced team, so whoever is on the court for Dallas will need to be ready from the jump.

Canadian international Dwight Powell is coming off of his best performance of the season. Still not 100% after suffering a devastating injury last season, Powell showed how productive he could be.
Powell posted 25 points and nine rebounds on 11 of 12 shooting in his last game against the Lakers. He’s no primary threat, but his finishing ability and movement are still excellent.
The Kings have a hole in the middle with Bagley and Holmes unlikely to play, so Powell could have another big game. So long as his energy continues, Dallas has a chance to stay in the game.
The Sacramento Kings are on the verge of closing out another disappointing season. They’ll also be missing De’Aaron Fox for the 10-14 days. In his absence, head coach Luke Walton will be wondering who can step up to the plate in the playmaking department.
De’Aaron Fox almost a third of the Kings’ assists per game, averaging 7.2 per contest. Rookie Tyrese Haliburton would likely be next in line as an initiator for Sacramento’s offence, as he is averaging 5.1 assists per game. Or Luke Walton could look to veteran Delon Wright, who despite his reserved numbers is a reliable lead guard.
Whoever steps up to the plate needs to be aggressive in their attack. Fox creates most of the Kings’ offence off of his speed and penetration, something the Sacramento reserve guards are not known for.
Buddy Hield for the lead and the winpic.twitter.com/EPTymJDaMw

Without lead guard De’Aaron Fox available for up to two weeks, Luke Walton will look to veteran Buddy Hield to lead Sacramento’s scoring efforts.
Not much of an individual scoring threat, Buddy Hield needs to become an issue for the Mavericks’ defence. Hield has hit 232 three-point field-goals this season, but has been assisted on 82.8% of those makes.
He’s not going to start winning one-on-one drives at the rim, but his shooting threat is enough to create opportunities for his teammates – if he can handle the responsibility.
