Both the Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers are looking to overcome some recent adversity when they face off. The Brooklyn Nets won their last game, but have gone 5-5 over their last 10 matches. The LA Clippers are also coming off of a win, and have gone 7-3 over their last 10 games.
The Brooklyn Nets are an efficient two-way team, averaging 114.4 points per game (17th in the NBA) on 50.7% from the field (2nd in the NBA) and 39.1% from the three-point range (2nd in the NBA). Even without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving the Nets were able to maintain their scoring quality in their last game, scoring 125 points on 50.0% from the field and 42.4% from three. The LA Clippers are famed for their defence, allowing just 110.8 points per game (3rd in the NBA) on 46.7% from the field and 35.6% from three (12th in the NBA). The Clippers won their last game but their defence wasn't in form, allowing 128 points on 47.9% from the field and 45.0% from three-point range.
The Nets maintained their offensive quality in their last game, but that's unlikely to continue when they take on a defensive team like the Clippers. While LA's defence has been up and down as of late, it's unlikely that the Nets will enjoy a 29 and 44-point effort from Edmond Sumner and Cam Thomas respectively. Expect the Clippers to bounce back against a Nets that's less offensively versatile than usual, despite recent play.
It'll definitely be an offense-defense battle when the LA Clippers and Brooklyn Nets face off. The Clippers are averaging a combined points total of 221.8 on a plus-0.2 points total. The Nets have an overall combined points total of 226.7 points on a plus-2.1 differential.
Over their last five games, the Nets have averaged a combined total of 239.4 points on a minus-5.0 points differential, having won three of those five matches. The LA Clippers have averaged a combined 227.6 points on a minus-1.2 points differential through their last five games, winning three of those five.
We're taking the over in this match, considering the fact that both the Nets' and Clippers' defense has been rather porous as of late. While the Nets don't have Durant or Irving, the latter having been traded, they've shown the ability to get their points - even if their defense doesn't keep up. Despite LA's defensive potential, we think the Nets' shooting will be enough to break the Clippers down.
