Charlotte Hornets vs Chicago Bulls Predictions and Picks

Neither of these squads are the most talented in the NBA Summer League. However, off of four straight losses and a heartbreaker in their last match, the Hornets should be able to translate their three-quarters of perimeter defence and shooting into a victory.

CHO: Clean Up Your Offence

The Charlotte Hornets could’ve came away with their first win of the Summer League in their last game. However, despite having control of the game, they gave it all up due to a terrible night taking care of the ball.

In their loss to the Toronto Raptors the Hornets led by as many as 13 points. However, 24 turnovers on the night and 31.6% shooting in the fourth signalled their end.

The Bulls won’t present the most stout defence, but after a careless night against the Raptors the Hornets can’t afford to take their opponents lightly.

Hornets Key Player: (G) James Bouknight

The Charlotte Hornets are still without a win, but you couldn’t blame it entirely on the performance of first round pick James Bouknight.

In his last game, a loss to the Toronto Raptors, Bouknight posted 14 points, five assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of play. Unfortunately, he also committed six turnovers on the evening.

Bouknight is an excellent scorer, but he’ll need to show better point guard qualities if he wants to lead the Hornets to victory. One thing is for sure, he must take care of the ball.

CHI: Defend the Three-Point Line

The Chicago Bulls have struggled to score through many of their games in the NBA Summer League. However, they have been more than capable when it comes to slowing down their opponents.

Through their Summer League run the Chicago Bulls have held their opponents to under 31% shooting from the three-point line. Most recently holding the Memphis Grizzlies to eight of 30 shooting from three.

Chicago’s defensive pressure should cause issues for the Hornets, but Charlotte have shown great three-point shooting potential. Slowing their opponents’ attack from range will be crucial to Chicago’s success.

Bulls Key Player: (G-F) Ayo Dosunmu

The Chicago Bulls’ second round pick Ayo Dosunmu had the opportunity to step up with Patrick Williams out of the lineup. The combo-guard showed some interesting promise, and an expanded role would let the Bulls measure his ability even more.

In his most recent match Dosunmu posted 26 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on 11 of 21 shooting from the field. However, he was a paltry one of five from three.

Dosunmu will surely welcome the opportunities, but if there is anywhere he can improve it is from range. Outside of that, Dosunmu has showed that he has an NBA-level skill set.
