NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Towns to Struggle and a Suns-Celtics SGP

There’s only one more day until the Sweet 16 tips-off in March Madness, and I’m sharing my best NBA player props for Wednesday during the interim.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart made history as the first pair of New York Knicks teammates to record triple-doubles in the same game in a win over the Dallas Mavericks, while young Marcus Sasser scored a career-high 27 points to lift the Detroit Pistons over the San Antonio Spurs.

Wednesday’s schedule includes several elite matchups, including the Los Angeles Lakers against the Indiana Pacers, the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Denver Nuggets, and the Boston Celtics against the Phoenix Suns.

Here are my top five player props for Wednesday NBA action.

Additionally, be sure to check out our prediction for the Lakers vs. Pacers matchup.

Best NBA Prop Bets for Wednesday, March 26

Jamal Shead Over 10.5 Points (-112) at FanDuel

Shead, a 22-year-old guard from Houston, went over in three straight games and in seven of 13 games in March. He also has a clear path to heavy playing time since Immanuel Quickley, Gradey Dick, Chris Boucher, and Jakob Poeltl are all expected to miss tonight’s game either with injuries or an illness.

Shead consistently played more minutes per game with every passing month and scored 14 points on 50 percent shooting against the Washington Wizards in his last game. He went under in both of his regular-season matchups with the Brooklyn Nets, but he is playing more minutes and has taken on a larger role in the offense since then.

Christian Braun Over 13.5 Points (-122) at FanDuel

Braun averaged 15.1 points per game and dropped 28 points on 53.8 percent shooting on the Chicago Bulls in his last appearance. He went over this line in nine of his last 13 games and was only a half-point away from cashing the over in his only previous meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks are traveling on the road and may be deflated by the news that they lost Damian Lillard for an indefinite period due to a blood clot. Braun shot 56.3 percent from the field and 47.7 percent from three in March and has been better at home than on the road, all of which points to him going over.

Austin Reaves Over 19.5 Points (-102) at FanDuel

Believe it or not, usage rate and the general flow of the game suggest that Reaves has become the Lakers’ second option behind Luka Doncic and ahead of LeBron James. He went over in six of his last seven games and averaged 22.9 points on 46.7 percent shooting in March.

The Lakers are about to face the Indiana Pacers, to whom Reaves gave 45 points with four made threes when they met in LA on Feb. 8. Andrew Nembhard is a terrific defender, but Reaves is taking lots of shots and will have the ball in his hands enough times to get to the over.

Karl-Anthony Towns Under 26.5 Points (-106) at FanDuel

Fresh off of his record-setting performance, Towns and the Knicks get to take on the Los Angeles Clippers, who allowed the eighth-fewest points per game to opposing centers. Towns also went under in his last three games on the second night of a back-to-back and also went under last night with 26 points.

KAT went under in 11 of his last 14 games despite posting efficient shooting splits in March. The Clippers are a stout defensive unit that held Towns to 23 points on 38.1 percent shooting when they met in Los Angeles on March 7, and I envision something similar playing out on Wednesday.

Jared Butler Under 1.5 Threes (-125) at FanDuel

My pick yesterday involving Jimmy Butler didn’t work, so why not pivot to Jared Butler? A former national champion at Baylor, the 24-year-old made three threes in his last game but went under in five straight games just before that and made 1.4 threes per game on 30.5 percent three-point shooting in March.

While the Washington Wizards have a reputation of being a terrible defensive team, they ranked 11th in three-point percentage allowed and 13th in made threes allowed per game over their last month of action. Butler also started the year playing for the Wizards, so his opponents will have familiarity with how to defend him.

NBA Same-Game Parlay (+309) at FanDuel

-Boston Celtics (-3.5) at Phoenix Suns

  • Devin Booker 6+ assists: Booker dished out 12 assists in his last game and went over this line in six straight outings while averaging 7.9 assists per game in March.

  • Jrue Holiday under 11.5 points: He shot worse than 29 percent from three in consecutive months and went under this line in seven of his last nine games.

  • Ryan Dunn over 5.5 rebounds: He snatched nine rebounds in consecutive games and went over in three of his last four, while the Celtics are only 15th in rebounds allowed per game to opposing small forwards and will be without Jayson Tatum.
