March is here, and so is a loaded slate of NBA games on Monday. That’s why we’re sharing our best NBA player props to kick off the new week.
Anthony Edwards dominated the Phoenix Suns with 44 points and seven assists in an 18-point win, while Stephon Castle’s 32 points weren’t enough to take down Jalen Williams (41 points, seven assists, six rebounds) or the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Here are our best NBA player prop bets for Monday, along with a special same-game parlay.
Additionally, be sure to check out our prediction for the Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder matchup.
Without Joel Embiid available for action, Maxey’s threshold for potential assists decreases significantly. He also went under this line in three straight games before he dished out 11 in his last game, a game in which Quentin Grimes unexpectedly dropped a career-high 44 points.
Maxey has now gone under this line in five of his last seven games and is facing a Portland Trail Blazers squad that has quietly been one of the best defensive teams in the sport for the past couple of months. Portland also ranked fifth in assists allowed per game over its last 15 and kept Maxey to three in their previous matchup.
The 21-year-old Wells just dropped 18 points on 50 percent shooting his last time on the court and averaged 11.4 points per game in his rookie campaign. He also went over in five of his last seven games and gets to face an Atlanta Hawks team that he scored 13 against the last time they met.
The Hawks’ defensive issues are well-publicized, and they ranked 25th in points allowed per game over their last 15 games. They’re up to 18th in defensive rating but are also second in pace, meaning that both teams in this game are in the top two in pace of play and will create plenty of potential scoring possessions.
Dort, fresh off an ejection for fighting during Sunday’s win over the San Antonio Spurs, went under this line in five of his last six games. Fittingly for our Wells pick, his only time going over during that stretch came when he scored 20 points against the Hawks on Friday, Feb. 28.
The Houston Rockets are an outstanding defensive team that plays with physicality and aggressiveness. They also rank in the top five in three-point percentage allowed and will close out hard to Dort, who shot a career-high 39.5 percent from three but who went under in two of three meetings with Houston.
Hardaway Jr. averaged exactly 10.5 points but went under this line in nine of his last 10 games. He also played 17 and 22 minutes in his last two games, which is an indication that he’s falling down coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s preferred order in the rotation, considering he averaged 28.1 minutes per game for the year overall.
Hardaway Jr. only shot 37.5 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from three last month, and he went 3-9 from the floor and from three in his only February game. The Utah Jazz are terrible defensively, but Hardaway’s minutes are going to Malik Beasley and others, and he just might not get enough time on the court to go over.
Herro is known for his shooting and, recently, his playmaking, but he’s rarely looked at as an important player on the glass. He averaged 5.4 rebounds per game but still went under in four of his last six games and only had four boards in 41 minutes last night.
Herro could have tired legs after playing an overtime thriller against the New York Knicks last night, and the Washington Wizards, as deplorable as they’ve been all year, climbed to 15th in rebounds allowed per game over their last 15. This is a let-down spot for Herro, who’s played well as of late.
-Sacramento Kings (-1.5) @ Dallas Mavericks
DeMar DeRozan 20+ points: DeRozan went over in five of his last seven and dropped 42 the last time he faced the Mavericks, who were 19th in points allowed per game in February.
Klay Thompson 4+ threes: The Kings were 24th in threes and 27th in three-point percentage allowed over their last 10, while Thompson went over in six of seven.
Keegan Murray over 6.5 rebounds: Dallas allowed the third-most rebounds per game over its last 10, although it held Murray under in two meetings.
