When the Toronto Raptors host the Sacramento Kings, all eyes will be on the jersey retirement ceremony of Vince Carter and the return of DeMar DeRozan. However, eagle-eyed bettors will have noticed the stellar form of sophomore forward Gradey Dick, who is leading the 2023 NBA Draft Class in scoring.
With the mass of injuries to the Toronto Raptors roster, Dick has stepped up to help lead his side. Through six games, he’s averaging 20.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.7 threes per game on 48.9% from the field and 37.2% from three-point range.
Dick is coming off a career-high 31-point, seven-rebounds, five-threes-made performance in a loss to the Lakers. He’s cleared 20+ points in four of his six games this season, and his role has increased since the injury to Scottie Barnes. Against an uptempo Sacramento Kings team, expect Dick to maintain his scoring form.

The Minnesota Timberwolves enter this game from a narrow three-point victory against the Denver Nuggets. While stellar defensive play won their last match, Anthony Edwards’ scoring prowess kept the Timberwolves competitive all night.
Edwards has been ruthless in his scoring pursuits this season, averaging 29.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 5.8 threes per game on 46.0% from the field and 43.3% from three. He’s shooting at a tremendous volume, 13.4 three-point attempts per game, but it has paid off so far.
The San Antonio Spurs are much improved defensively over last season, currently ranking third in points allowed. However, they are 17th in three-point permitted efficiency (36.4%) while allowing 14.2 three-point field goals per game (20th of 30). Expect Edwards to shine from deep once again.

The LA Clippers got off to a strong start but have faltered as their regular season schedule has worn on. One of their top performers has been Norman Powell, who has taken a starting position with Kawhi Leonard out indefinitely. A 2019 NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors, Norman Powell has gone from a sixth-man candidate to an all-star hopeful with his early-season performances.
Powell has the most productive season of his career through five games, posting 25.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.8 threes per game on 49.5% from the field and 41.3% from the three-point range. He’s nearly doubled his scoring average from last season and seems suited to a starting role beside James Harden.
In five games this season, Powell has scored over 19.5 points four times. He faces a gritty defensive squad in the Oklahoma City Thunder, where his slashing talents may be stifled. However, given his recent shooting form, hitting 19 threes in five games, Powell projects to maintain his scoring numbers despite the challenges presented.
