The Minnesota Timberwolves kept their season alive with a 105-100 win on Tuesday in Dallas, forcing a Game Five back in Minneapolis. Anthony Edwards went for 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns had his best game of the series with 25 points and five rebounds.

“Airplane Mode” has been a real asset to the Dallas Mavericks in their journey through the playoffs, whether that be with his defense, rebounding, or timely shooting. He went over this line in three of four games in the series and in seven of eight meetings with the Timberwolves across the regular and postseason.
The Mavericks are headed back on the road for Game Five, and although they won both road games to start the series, they are typically worse when they aren’t in their building. That could lead to more missed shots and a greater focus on defense, leading to more rebounds for Jones Jr. and company.

Following the same logic above, Irving could be needed to take on a part of the game he doesn’t usually gravitate towards and look to rebound the basketball. He split the over/under at two apiece in the series but grabbed eight boards in his only regular-season matchup with the T-Wolves.
The loss of Dereck Lively II off the bench for Dallas means that Maxi Kleber will get a solid chunk of minutes. Even though Kleber is technically a big, he spends lots of his time on the perimeter, which could open up more rebounding lanes on long shots for the 6-foot-2 Irving.

Towns was a trainwreck in the series until he broke out of his shell with a great performance in Game Four that included a couple of clutch shots down the stretch. Despite scoring 25 points, he finished that game with just one assist, bringing him to three unders in his last five games.
Towns spent most of the series pressing and trying to find his offense, but with Game Four behind him, he should find it easier to resume his normal role in the offense—that likely means more shots in rhythm and fewer wild shots or pass attempts. He’s also had his share of foul trouble in the playoffs and fouled out of Game Four, which led to him only playing 30 minutes (giving him fewer assist opportunities).

Gafford has played like one of the best rim protectors in the entire league in this series, averaging three blocks per game and going over this line in three straight games. He’ll have a great opportunity to continue that as the double-big lineup of Minnesota looks to crowd the basket, especially with slashers such as Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels.
The 25.5 minutes Gafford averaged in this series are his highest of any series in the playoffs, spurred by 29 minutes in Game Three and 31 in Game Four following the injury to Lively II. He should spend about that much time back on the court on Thursday night, which should help him get over his line.

The importance of the veteran presence of Conley on this Wolves squad cannot be overstated. He quietly had a solid series, averaging 13.5 points and 4.8 assists on 48.8 percent shooting from the field, and cashed the over in three straight games (along with five of his last seven dating back to the last series).
The Wolves are back at home with a chance to really make this series interesting if they can win Game Five. Conley, now 36 years old, has a large responsibility to use his experience and help lead his team to victory. We believe that he has enough gas in the tank to do just that and is in for a strong game on Thursday.
