The Chicago Bulls will face the Miami Heat, who are down Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier, in the early game. Then, the Sacramento Kings will attempt to win their second-straight Play-In game against the Zion Williamson-less New Orleans Pelicans.
The winners of each matchup will secure the eight seed in their respective sides of the bracket and set up dates with the Oklahoma City Thunder or Boston Celtics.

The Heat did a spectacular job of using their zone to shut off passes to Joel Embiid on Wednesday. Although Vucevic is nowhere near the same level of scoring threat as the reigning MVP, he averaged 18 points per game and scored 24 in four straight games.
Bam Adebayo is the best defensive center in the Eastern Conference and can do a job on Vucevic on his own, or he can rely on team defense if Miami reverts to the zone. The Heat posted the second-best defensive rating since the All-Star break and should be able to slow down the 33-year-old.

Following a similar train of thought, there’s a strong chance that Erik Spoelstra forces White into becoming a facilitator instead of a scorer. The Most Improved Player candidate just put up 42 points against the Atlanta Hawks and will be a top priority in Miami’s defensive game plan.
Looking closer at the box score from the Heat’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Buddy Hield managed to dish out six assists in just 18 minutes, while Tyrese Maxey also had six assists. The moral of that story is that Miami shut off three-point attempts of Philly’s best perimeter shooters, which means they should show the same level of attention to White.
No Butler or Rozier in the lineup means that Bam is going to have to orchestrate a lot of the team offense. He’s more than capable of doing just that (despite managing just one assist against Philly) as he went over this line in both regular-season meetings with the Bulls.
Chicago ranked just 23rd in assists allowed per game despite playing at a glacially slow pace. They also allowed the Hawks to reach 30 assists despite winning by 15 points in their first Play-In game and should struggle against a more disciplined offense, though Miami’s offense was anything but stellar to finish the regular season.
Murphy III played the best basketball of his career during a spike in minutes while Ingram was sidelined with an injury. The 6-foot-8 swingman averaged 19.6 points in April and 17.1 in March and should receive a similar type of workload since Williamson’s hamstring is set to hold him out of action.
Even though Murphy only scored 12 points against the Lakers, he made a couple of the biggest momentum-shifting shots, including a moonshot of a three-pointer. The Kings allowed the ninth-fewest three-point attempts per game but also allowed the second-highest percentage (38.7), so Murphy should be able to knock down his looks if he can get open.

Murray is asked to do a lot for Sacramento, especially now that he has an even larger offensive responsibility. One of his tasks, aside from making open shots and guarding the best scorer on the other team, is to manage the boards, which should be easier without Williamson in the lineup.
The former fourth-overall pick went over this line in three of his last five games and snagged nine boards against the Warriors. Sabonis will be tied up with Jonas Valanciunas, but Murray should have an easier-than-usual time against the Pels since he’ll be fending off the lighter Ingram, Murphy, and Herb Jones.
