WSN is the place to get the best NBA player props and betting picks every day throughout the 2023-24 NBA season.

Nikola Jokic’s buzzer-beating three helped the Denver Nuggets pull off a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback against the Golden State Warriors, while Giannis Antetokunmpo’s 44 points and 14 rebounds were too much for an inspired effort by the San Antonio Spurs.

Here are our favorite NBA player prop picks for Friday.

Best NBA Prop Bets Today January 5

Tyrese Maxey Under 25.5 Points (-113) at FanDuel

Maxey is our leading candidate for Most Improved Player and an All-Star spot, but he went under this total in four of his last five games., including each of his last two outings. He’s about to face a New York Knicks team that is 26th in pace and will slow down the transition game that he’s so proficient in.

The Knicks are 2-0 with OG Anunoby in the starting lineup and allowed an average of 103 points in those games. Anunoby is also an outstanding defender and should get some possessions matched up with Maxey, which will make it even harder for him to cash the over on his points total.

Ja Morant Over 26.5 Points (-111) at FanDuel

Ja averaged 26.6 points in 10 regular-season meetings with the Lakers and put up a 39-point triple-double when they met last February. He scored 28 points in his last game and is getting LA at the perfect time since they’re just 2-8 over their last 10 games.

Although the Lakers are built on defensive principles, everyone not named Anthony Davis hasn’t been great. Cam Reddish and Taurean Prince try their best but aren’t great at keeping quicker guards in front of them, and Ja has a great chance to continue the momentum he’s built since his return to the lineup.

Kristaps Porzingis to Record a Double-Double (+175) at FanDuel

Porzingis is not known as a great rebounder, but he’s taken more command of the boards lately. He brought down 10 rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday and recorded 10+ boards in four of his last nine games.

The Utah Jazz are second in rebound rate and will make it tough for the Latvian center—however, their size, with players such as John Collins and Walker Kessler, will also force Porzingis to play closer to the basket, which should give him opportunities to grab rebounds.

Devin Booker Under 7.5 Assists (-125) at FanDuel

Booker went under this line in both recent games without Kevin Durant in the lineup (recording six assists in both) and went under in five straight games overall. He’s still seeing the court well and making the right passes, but he’s been forced to become more of a scorer without Durant out there.

The Phoenix Suns also aren’t shooting the ball well and dropped to 10th in three-point percentage after being near the top of the league. The Miami Heat also do a great job defending the three, which means Booker won’t have a ton of easy assists from kicks to the corner.

Anthony Edwards Under 29.5 Points (-111) at FanDuel

Edwards is one of the hottest players in the league and averaged 32.7 points over his last 10 games. However, this is an instance in which the opponent and the context just don’t seem right for him to put up another gaudy stat line.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are taking on the Houston Rockets in Houston, where they are 14-5. The teams also rank 20th and 27th in pace, meaning that there won’t be a ton of shot opportunities, plus Houston is fourth in defensive rating. This is going to be a gritty defensive battle that does not shape up well for the over-in-point totals or player props.
