Best NBA Prop Bets Today December 15

Tyrese Haliburton over 27.5 points (-104 at FanDuel)

Haliburton made headlines for his involvement in a scuffle with Giannis Antetokunmpo following Wednesday’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. He’ll be able to step out of the controversy and back into the spotlight when he takes on a terrible Washington Wizards squad on Friday.

The Wizards allow the most points per game and play at the second-fastest pace, behind only Indiana. There should be tons of possessions and scoring opportunities with very little defense, which should lead to lots of overs cashing for the Pacers.

Tyrese Maxey over 24.5 points (-125 at FanDuel)

After repeatedly banging the drum on Embiid points, we can’t bring ourselves to bet his over of 34.5 points. Maxey, however, is a different story—he only scored nine points on Wednesday but was largely deferring since Embiid had it going, and he scored 29 against the Pistons earlier this year.

Detroit is hurting for size, with Jalen Duren sidelined by an ankle problem. Because Embiid scored 41 points in 31 minutes when they played two days ago, we expect Monty Williams to adjust the defensive coverage and show more attention to the reigning MVP, which should give Maxey more freedom to score.

Devin Booker over 27.5 points (-113 at FanDuel)

Booker is averaging a modest 28.1 points and is coming off back-to-back 30-point nights against the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets. He remained the number-one option in the offense even with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal also on the court and he has a chance to boost his average tonight.

The Phoenix Suns are playing the New York Knicks, who are only 22nd in defensive rating over the last 10 games. This defensive decline and a lack of a player who can adequately guard Booker should lead to him having another strong scoring night.

Alperen Sengun 6+ assists (+145 at FanDuel)

Sengun assists is one of our favorite prop picks. Although he failed to go over his total in his last two games, he dished out seven helpers each of the two games before and raised his assist average to 5.4 as the season progressed.

Sengun is taking on the Memphis Grizzlies, who are anchored by Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. Despite JJJ’s reputation, he’s been much more involved on offense than defense as of late, and he’s also most effective as a shot-blocker than a real one-on-one defender. Watch for Sengun to use the experience of their matchup on Wednesday to pass around the big man and go over his assists total.

Zion Williamson over 24.5 points (-102 at FanDuel)

Zion scored 36 points against the Timberwolves on Monday and was then rested on Wednesday. He’ll be fresh but still have momentum from a nice game earlier in the week, combined with pressure to perform because of criticisms of his weight and his uninspiring showing in the In-Season Tournament semifinal.

Zion will also be helped by his opponent, the Charlotte Hornets, who have played very little lately because of Mark Williams’ injury. Without anyone with real size to guard the interior, Zion, one of the most efficient scorers in NBA history, should dominate the paint and get tons of easy buckets.
