Atlanta Hawks vs Milwaukee Bucks Predictions and Picks

Our Pick

The Atlanta Hawks stole Game 1, but it was a very close affair. The Hawks are no joke, but the Milwaukee Bucks can adjust their rebounding and get more even production to bring the series back level.

ATL: Take Your Opportunities

The Atlanta Hawks take another home game from a higher seed. Their recent Game 1 outing against the Bucks might just be their most impressive post-season victory yet! A large reason for their success is their tenacity, and opportunistic nature on offence.

The Hawks, as were expected, came out of the gate a step behind the Bucks. However come the third quarter, Atlanta closed the frame leading by three points. It was Trae Young who ran the show, but a standout second half performance from John Collins also helped settle the affair.

In order for the Hawks to go up 2-0, they need to remain competitive throughout the game and not fall too far behind. Atlanta would do well to get out to a stronger start, as their first quarter performance will set the tone.

Hawks Key Player: (G) Trae Young

It isn’t a fluke at this point, Trae Young has arrived into superstar status. The Hawks point guard has been brilliant through the season and has raised his game through every round of the playoffs.

In Game 1 against the Bucks, Trae Young put up 48 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds on 17 of 34 shooting from the field. Not only did he score in double-digits in each quarter, he converted on 10 of 12 attempts from the free throw line.

His individual ability has carried the Hawks through some of the toughest moments of the playoffs. Not only has his scoring been threatening, but his playmaking is causing massive issues for the Milwaukee Bucks.

MIL: Establish A Presence on the Glass

The Milwaukee Bucks are a talented team who love to compete in the open court. However in their attempts to wrestle with the Hawks in Game 1, Milwaukee came up short in the rebounding department.

Not only were the Bucks outrebounded 51 to 45, but Milwaukee allowed 12 offensive rebounds on the night.

The energy of the Hawks’ front court duo of Collins and Capela was felt through their combined 34 rebounds. The Bucks don’t have the kind of players that will match up with them for 48 minutes, so overcoming Atlanta’s rebounding efforts will be a team-wide affair.

Bucks Key Player: (F) Khris Middleton

— Milwaukee Bucks (@Bucks) June 24, 2021

The Milwaukee Bucks weren’t far off in their last game against the Hawks, but they were lacking in key areas. Khris Middleton is Milwaukee’s second All-Star, but it’s clear how they struggle when he’s not on his game.

Middleton finished Game 1 against the Hawks with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He was a -13 on the match though, converting on just 6 of his 23 field goal attempts.

For the Bucks to bring the series level, they need more efficient production out of Khris Middleton. The two-time All-Star is more than capable, and his scoring contributions are needed to combat the run potential of the Hawks.
