  • Christopher Bell will try to stay perfect at New Hampshire’s Magic Mile.

  • Don’t laugh—Jeremy Clements is hugely underrated at colossal odds.

  • Justin Allgaier is the only favorite on the board at a reasonable price.

Christopher Bell Tries to Stay Perfect in Fourth New Hampshire Start

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell is the prohibitive favorite to win Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but we’re going to spend the next few paragraphs telling you why you shouldn’t put your hard-earned money on the Baby-Faced Assassin.

We’re aware that Bell has never lost an Xfinity race at the Magic Mile. He has triumphed in all three of his starts at NHMS, the last two decisively. In 2019, he led 186 of 200 laps and beat Cole Custer to the finish line by 4.068 seconds.

In 2021, Bell led 151 laps and increased his winning margin to 6.241 seconds over Justin Allgaier.

That, however, was Bell’s last victory in the series. He hasn’t run an Xfinity Series race since 2022, when he finished seventh at Darlington in his only start.

Hence, our first argument against Bell is his lack of recent experience in Xfinity cars. Though Bell has blossomed in the Cup Series since moving up to NASCAR’s top level, we tend to favor drivers who drive the Xfinity cars every week.

Second, Bell is offered at +110 via BetMGM. In essence, you’re betting on Bell versus 37 other drivers at close to even odds. With all the random events that can happen in a 200-lap race, the risk is far greater than the potential reward.

Seriously, Folks, Jeremy Clements Deserves a Lot More Respect

You might have thought Jeremy Clements’ fourth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2022 would have earned the driver of the No. 51 Chevrolet a modicum of respect.

You’d be wrong. Even though Clements has finished on the lead lap in five straight races at the Magic Mile, handicappers don’t give him a ghost of a chance in Saturday’s SciApps 200.

At BetMGM, Clements is offered at +100000. That’s an absurd number for a driver who has finished 15th three times and fourth once in his last four New Hampshire starts.

We don’t think Clements will win the race, but he’s posted at +12500 just to finish in the top five. So if he duplicates his performance from 2022…

Sometimes you’ve got to take a shot, and this is one of those times.

Justin Allgaier Is Money on a Flat Track Like New Hampshire

We’ve been backing Justin Allgaier a lot lately, with mixed results. Little Gator did take the checkered flag at Darlington, but otherwise he’s been plagued with a rash of bad luck.

We think the ill fortune will end on Saturday. In 12 starts at Loudon, Allgaier has finished in the top 10 nine times, for an average result of 9.0 at the track. He finished on the lead lap in 11 of the 12 races.

In addition, the driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet is the only competitor in Saturday’s field other than Christopher Bell (see above) to have scored a victory at the track.

Allgaier’s last five New Hampshire starts have produced finishes of seventh, third, second, first and sixth. He’s a master at one-mile flat tracks, as he showed earlier this year at Phoenix, where he held a commanding lead before blowing a tire with five laps left.

At +700 via BetMGM, Allgaier is a much more attractive proposition than Bell, and that’s one of the main reasons we’re picking him to win this weekend.
