Clash at Bowman Gray Race Predictions

Track Position Could Be Paramount in First Clash at Bowman Gray

For the first time in its history, the NASCAR Cup Series exhibition opener known as the Clash will visit Bowman Gray Stadium In Winston-Salem, N.C., NASCAR’s oldest weekly racing venue.

Though the Clash is coming to Bowman Gray for the first time, the Cup Series has raced there before—but not since 1971.

And though the data is more than 50 years old, the absolute dominance of top starting positions can’t be ignored. In the 23 years from 1959 through 1971, 26 consecutive races were won from the fourth starting position or higher.

Ten of the last 14 races during that span were won from the pole, and the four others from the second starting position.

Consequently, it’s important to pay attention to the four heat races on Saturday, which will determine the top four spots on the grid.

Joey Logano Has Another Chance to Achieve a NASCAR Cup “First”

When NASCAR ventures into the unknown, Joey Logano excels.

In 2022, on the untried purpose-built quarter-mile track in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Logano won the Clash.

A year earlier, when the NASCAR Cup Series raced on dirt for the first time since 1971, Logano triumphed on high-banked Bristol Motor Speedway.

And when the Cup Series visited World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway for the first time in mid-2022—you guessed it—Logano found Victory Lane once again.

Hence, it would be a mistake to dismiss Logano’s chance in the first Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, the historic quarter-mile short track in Winston-Salem. At +900 via bet365 Sportsbook, he’s our second choice to win on Sunday.

Kyle Larson Resumes NASCAR Racing after Great Offseason on Dirt

Undeniably, Kyle Larson has been enjoying a stellar offseason hot streak—just not on asphalt.

In late December, Larson won the high-paying High Limit Racing 410 sprint car event at the Perth Motorplex in Australia.

A week later, he triumphed in two of the four classifications he entered at the Tulsa Shootout for micro racers. And in mid-January, Larson returned to Tulsa to win the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals for the third time.

Though Larson will be racing on pavement in a stock car for the first time this season, we can’t ignore the roll he’s on. He’s our pick to win Sunday’s race at +750 via bet365.

If you can’t decide between Larson and Logano, you can bet on both at the same time in an either/or proposition at +360 via bet365.
