Saturday evening will see Charlotte FC make its way to Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Revolution. In their previous four meetings, The Revs won the head-to-head matchup winning three times.
So far 2024 has been Jekyll and Hyde for the New England Revolution, cruising past their CONCACAF Champions Cup counterparts and reaching the quarterfinals, but in MLS play they remain the only winless club in the Eastern Conference. The Revs have had some extra time off from MLS action as their last competitive match was back on March 23rd, drawing 1-1 with the Chicago Fire.
Meanwhile Charlotte FC, currently sits in ninth place in the east, collecting eight points through six matches. The Crowns are coming off a gut-wrenching draw against FC Cincinnati last weekend. A game where Charlotte carried the lead up until stoppage time, and then Cincinnati was able to get on the score sheet stealing a point on the road.
The books have pencilled in New England as the favourites to walk away with all three points on Saturday. With the recent form the Revs are in Charlotte could make this a closely contested battle. In the double chance market, New England to win or tie is listed at -275, and for Charlotte to win or tie is -150. For either side to win and no tie is priced at -350.

In domestic play, New England is off to an awful start to the campaign, compared to last season's start winning four of their five opening matches. It’s no surprise up on attack the Revs find themselves ranked near the bottom in the goals category averaging less than a goal per game. As a team, if there is one bright spot for the Revs up front it’s they own the eighth-highest shots on target per match in MLS with 5.4. If they can improve on the quality of their finishing the Revs will climb up the table.
Starting in all 450 minutes played in MLS this campaign, Charles Gil at the moment is in a class of his own on this roster with the quality he has displayed. The 2022 MLS All-Star has found the back of the twice while picking up an assist. Gil has registered 10 shots total through five matches, with six finding the target.
On the defensive side of the ball, once again have to praise the splendid performance by Djibril Diani. In three MLS appearances, it looks now, like the Crowns made the right transfer move for the versatile player. Last weekend's affair saw him achieve another man of the match honour. He broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 60th minute, bagging his first career MLS goal. After 90 minutes the 26-year-old finished with the most tackles made with three and won the most duels in the match with nine.
The Crowns featured Liel Abada who got his first taste of MLS debuting against FC Cincinnati. Coming in as a substitute in the 61st minute, the 22-year-old showed no signs of fitness issues as the winger showcased his fleet-footed pace throughout his play. Abada capped off his first MLS appearance tallying two shots toward the net.

The home squad in this clash on Saturday could be in for a cagey affair. Not only has Charlotte shown their defensive play has improved under the gaffer Dean Smith, but they can go toe-to-toe with the elite sides in MLS. The Crowns will be the better rested team in this encounter as New England has a Tuesday night clash in the CONCACAF Champions Cup against Liga MX giants Club America. The Revs have failed to earn a win following their Champions Cup fixtures. Charlotte is four-for-six in the double chance market, they have an opportunity to go into Gillette Stadium and earn their first-ever result in Foxborough.
