Inter Miami Vs Nycfc Predictions

Inter Miami vs New York City FC Pick

Inter Miami’s season is all but over. Although they remain alive in the playoff race, the likelihood of them being able to pull it off remains incredibly low. For reference, FiveThirtyEight are giving them a

Their latest defeat was their seventh in their last nine matches, and as seen for most of the season, Miami have been underwhelming under manager Phil Neville.

New York City FC are a different story. They’re coming off a second win in a row and are close to booking their spot in the playoffs. With more to play for and more overall momentum, the visitors should expect to clinch three points.

NYCFC for the win (-111)

Inter Miami vs New York City FC Predictions

After narrowly qualifying for the playoffs in their inaugural 2020 season, Miami are now set to miss out on this year’s edition.

Barring a historical collapse from DC United — and several other unlikely variables happening as well — Miami will be left out of MLS’ 2021 playoffs.

It’s an unsurprising ending for the team.

Neville hasn’t made a strong impact on the sideline, and on the field, many star players have only had brief moments of brilliance or consistency.

There are few positives from this season and their latest defeat was a perfect summary of the year.

Despite having plenty of clear-cut opportunities and chances in the final third, Miami eventually lost 2-1 to Atlanta United on Wednesday night.

It was a disappointing result and another example of them not being able to go toe-to-toe with many of the clubs that sit above them in the league table.

Miami Haven’t Been Able To Keep Pace With League’s Top Teams

Let’s look at some of their latest results.

Miami have earned seven losses in their last nine matches. As for those two other results, the wins were against teams that are currently at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference.

They can’t keep pace with many of the squads that will soon be playoff-bound.

In their attack, there are also no excuses for Miami to have the payroll that they have and only 34 goals from 32 matches.

It’s worrisome for the team and they’ll likely have more problems this week against NYCFC.

Morale And Momentum Is Building For NYCFC

“It was very even and close so sometimes you have to dig out a way to win,” said NYCFC manager Ronny Deila after the latest 1-0 result against the Chicago Fire.

The three points earned were huge.

They not only pushed NYCFC to the third game in a row without a loss but also once again showcased that the team is able to grind out narrow victories when needed.

Despite the fact that the Fire had more possession, it was NYCFC in the end who had more shots and a higher xG (expected goals) rating.

And through that win, they’re now picking up their pace at a crucial moment near the end of the regular season.

Sean Johnson Continues Good Run Of Form in NYCFC Net

Credit is due to NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Wednesday’s shutout vs the Fire was his second in a row and his third so far this month.

At the time of writing, he’s also tied for sixth in the league when it comes to total shutouts so far in the 2021 season. Outside of some obvious candidates like Valentin Castellanos or Maxi Moralez, Johnson has looked like one of the best players this year for NYCFC.

As long as he continues his usual run of form, NYCFC should feel confident this weekend against Miami.
