Saturday evening will see DC United travel down to Bank of America Stadium to take on Charlotte FC. In four all-time previous encounters DC United has been able to capture two victories and a draw in that span. The tale of the tape currently has the Crowns occupying the fifth place spot in the Eastern Conference table while the Black-and-Red is in 10th place sitting six points behind Charlotte.
Their most recent outing saw Charlotte FC impressively walk away with all three points on the road defeating Atlanta United 3-2 back on June 2. The win snapped a three-game winless run for the Crowns and now sit with 25 points through the halfway mark of the 2024 MLS season.
Meanwhile DC United is coming off an absurd result against Toronto FC on June 2 that finished 2-2 in a match that had emotions running high in the late stages. DCU erased a two-goal deficit late in the match to rescue a point aided by two red cards Toronto received. Fighting to comeback was a positive for the club but overall, their winless run was extended to five.
Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favourite picks for Charlotte FC vs. DC United.

Snapping a four-game goalless drought in his most recent appearance is ex-Celtic FC striker Liel Abada. The 22-year-old registered his first multi-goal game in his eighth MLS showing. The Crowns aren’t one of the most lethal clubs in the competition finding the back of the net, but Liel is exceeding expectations in the analytic department. Through 514 minutes of game time action, Abada has amassed 15 total shots, three times has hit the back of the net and is overperforming with his expected goals sitting at 1.96 x.G.
It’s up for debate but it’s a tad surprising goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina was excluded from the Croatian Euro 2024 squad. The 31-year-old is having an outstanding season already exceeding his clean sheet total from last year where he picked up six, while in 2024 he already has blanked his opponents seven times which is tied for the league lead. On 68 total shots faced, Kahlina has conceded 18 goals in 17 starts.
One of the most devastating forces up front in MLS is Christian Benteke. The Golden Boot candidate has carved up the opposing team’s goalkeepers bagging 13 goals in 15 matches. The 33-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down creating chances around the 18-yard box peppering away a team lead of 53 shots toward the net. Consistency has been the key for Benteke so far with his longest goalless run lasting three matches this season.
A key player to Benteke’s success is the assist machine on this roster, Jared Stroud. The 27-year-old has already eclipsed his MLS career high in assists, setting up seven goals in 17 starts. Currently fifth overall in the assist category of MLS, Stroud's precise setup skills and Bentekes’s finishing complement each other and will be a prime reason if they can make a push to the postseason.
DC United possesses one of the best in-form strikers today, but Benteke might have a difficult night in the office on Saturday. DCU away performances have not been their strong suit this campaign, only collecting one victory in eight road contests. The capital city club is also not making life easier for themselves on the road with a goal against average of 1.75.
On the other hand, Charlotte has enjoyed playing on their home turf gathering 18 points in nine games at Bank of America Stadium. Boasting the fifth-best home record in MLS is hard to fade the Crowns in this situational spot. CLTFC home defence has been outstanding only conceding a total of six goals. Think DCU will struggle to get anything going on upfront with this rigid Crowns backend.
