Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United Prediction: Both Clubs Looking to End Their Winless Run

Saturday evening at Bank of America Stadium Charlotte FC will host Atlanta United. Both sides entering this contest have endured recent slumps ending their 2024 Leagues Cup campaign and restarting the 2024 MLS venture. Head-to-head these two have met previously on five occasions, with Charlotte possessing the slight edge winning in three occurrences versus Atalanta’s two.

Dean Smith’s men hung onto a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls last weekend. Inside the 90 minutes, the Crowns were critically outshot 20 to eight. In their last eight competitive matches, Charlotte extended their poor form now only collecting a maximum result once.

Meanwhile, Rob Valentino’s squad suffered a 2-0 setback against the LA Galaxy last weekend. With the defeat, in all matches played in their last nine, Atlanta has only managed to secure one victory. For the second consecutive match, The Five Stripes have failed to find the back of the net.

Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favorite picks for Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United.

Charlotte FC Preview

There has been no adjustment period for Karol Swiderski to get reintegrated back into this Charlotte lineup. After spending the latter of the 2023-24 Serie A campaign with Hellas Verona on loan, Swiderski hasn’t lost a beat in his return to MLS. Through two games, the 27-year-old has scored consecutive league matches. In 74 appearances repping the Crowns kit, he has bagged 27 goals.

Until recently Patrick Agyemang was shining for the club as he is currently the leading goal-getter with seven. In his three outings, the 23-year-old has failed to get on the goal sheet. After his red card showing back on July 3, Agyemang has seen his playing time cut short. He will look to regain the coach's trust by showing he is still an integral piece on the club.

Atlanta United Preview

Serie A veteran Aleksei Miranchuk made the switch over to MLS and could be an effective player going forward. He made his first MLS display last weekend logging 29 minutes and one shot off target. The 28-year-old attacking forward has 129 games of experience in Italy’s top-flight League, where he breached one past the keeper in 17 instances.

On loan product from Chivas Guadalajara, Daniel Rios has climatized to his new surroundings without a hiccup so far. In his first season with Atlanta, he has nine total goals, six of which were registered in MLS play. This isn’t the striker's first stint in MLS, he’s previously had stops in Nashville and Charlotte where he garnered 15 goals in 63 outings in all competitions.

Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United - My Pick

It’s a tale of a superior home squad in MLS hosting a club that performs poorly in their away fixtures. The Crowns don’t often lose at home as they have only dropped two games at Bank of America Stadium. On the other hand, Atlanta has struggled to find any solid footing in their away fixtures as they have managed to collect two wins in 13 road bouts. The Five Stripes are also laboring to get on the scoreboard away from home hitting the back of the net only 10 times. We feel Charlotte can take care of business on their home turf in an attempt to move up the Eastern Conference.
