With the New York Mets offense firing on all cylinders, we back the top of their batting order in a favorable divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies Taijuan Walker. While that takes place, we also focus on the contest between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers as the Diamondbacks offense possesses enough production to give the dominant Tobias Myers fits on the mound.

While the Philadelphia Phillies are inching closer to clinching the NL East division title and the number one overall seed in the NL, the New York Mets are still in a battle for one of the three wildcard spots. As of writing, the Mets are two games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the wildcard standings for the last wildcard spot in the playoffs.
Fortunately for New York, their offense draws a favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies Taijuan Walker as he has struggled mightily with limiting offensive production. Opposing offenses have had no issue with getting on base and in scoring position against the Phillies pitcher as he takes the mound with an ERA of 6.29 and WHIP of 1.627. To make matters worse for Walker, his back end has also continued to regress as the Phillies defense ranks below league average in Defensive Efficiency.
That gives the Mets an opportunity to open up the scoring early as their offense has been one of the hottest units in the league, entering the contest ranked well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Even without NL MVP contender Francisco Lindor in the top of their order, the Mets have had no issue with masking the loss of his production as they continue to put up runs on the board after a 10-0 victory against the Washington Nationals.
As for the Phillies, their elite top of their order will be given an opportunity to match the Mets scoring pace as they are set to face off against Luis Severino who has struggled with his command this season. In 29 starts, Severino averages nearly two Walks per game while generating a WHIP of 1.227 and a FIP of 4.21. Against an offense who ranks equally as well as the Mets, expect the Phillies to get into scoring position early and often in their contest.

Kicking off at the same time as the Mets and Phillies, we also target the matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers as the Diamondbacks try to hang on to their wildcard spot after underwhelming the past few weeks of play. While Arizona tries to ward off the surging New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, the Brewers are trying to leap over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the overall standings to secure one of the two first round byes in the playoffs.
Should Milwaukee want to increase their chances of making a run to the World Series, then their offense must take advantage of their matchup against the Diamondbacks Brandon Pfaadt as he has struggled with avoiding opposing contact this season. In 29 starts, Bfaadt is averaging more than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched while generating an ERA of 4.81. His defense also gives him minimal support as the Diamondbacks rank 25th overall in Defensive Efficiency.
On the other side of the field, the Diamondbacks face a far tougher arm as Tobias Myers is set to take the mound. Myers has excelled at minimizing the number of opposing runners in scoring position this season, entering the contest with a ERA of 3.07 and WHIP of 1.175. Fortunately for Arizona, their offense possesses more than enough production to bring him back down to reality as they rank near the top of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
