After cashing the YRFI in the first two contests between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox, we go back to the well for a third straight time as two more struggling pitchers are set to take the mound. Before that takes place, we shift our focus towards the matchup between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks as Arizona’s top of their order should neutralize the Rangers productive Cody Bradford.
For more information about the YRFI market and what factors make them worth a wager, take a look at our breakdown of what are YRFI bets.
As for where to wager on YRFIs, FanDuel Sportsbook has been the front runner for the market as they consistently put out lines before everyone else and at very favorable odds. After successfully cashing the YRFI in the first two games of their series, we try our luck one more time as both offenses are in a position to continue to thrive. With the Yankees losing to the Kansas City Royals yesterday, that opens the door for the Orioles to help close the gap between the two in the AL East division standings. Winning the AL East comes with an extra benefit this season as the winner will also receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Should the Orioles want to increase their chances of making it to the World Series with a bye in the playoffs, then their offense must continue to play at a high rate to help mask their regressing defense. Entering Wednesday’s contest against the Red Sox, the Orioles offense ranks near the top of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage, while their defense ranks 16th overall in Defensive Efficiency.
Against the Red Sox Nick Pivetta, the Orioles will have an opportunity to continue to open up the scoring early as Pivetta has struggled with limiting opposing scoring opportunities with his individual production. In 23 appearances this season, Pivetta has generated an ERA of 4.38 and a FIP of 4.10. Better yet, Pivetta is also surrounded by an unproductive back end as the Red Sox defense ranks well below league average in Defensive Efficiency.
On the other side of the field, the Red Sox offense will be given an equally great opportunity to match the Orioles offensive production as they are set to swing against Dean Kremer. Kremer has struggled keeping opposing runners off the bases in his 2024 campaign, taking the mound with an ERA of 4.27, a WHIP of 1.272, and a FIP of 4.37. Expect instant success from the Red Sox offense as they also rank above league average in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics.

While the Arizona Diamondbacks currently hold on to one of the three wildcard spots, the reigning World Series champions are in serious jeopardy of missing out on the playoffs as the Texas Rangers are six games back from the Minnesota Twins in the wildcard standings. Winning their division is an even harder path to playoffs for the Rangers as they are also 7.5 games back from the Houston Astros in the AL West division standings.
They are not completely out of the playoff picture just yet, but the Rangers offense will need to find some life to help make a last second push for the playoffs. Fortunately for them, they get a matchup against the Diamondbacks Merrill Kelly who has struggled with limiting scoring production as he takes the mound with an FIP of 4.69 and WHIP of 1.226. Kelly also receives little support from his defense as the Diamondbacks rank 26th in Defensive Efficiency.
As for the Diamondbacks, their offense has continued to play at a very high level as they rank near the top of the board in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. Every bit of their offensive production will be needed in a matchup against Cody Bradford as the Rangers pitcher has excelled at avoiding contact. In 11 games played, Bradford has generated a WHIP of 0.871 while conceding just 44 Hits Against.
