In the final game of their series, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles top of their orders get the benefit of swinging against a pair of underwhelming arms on the mound. Well before that takes place, we focus on the matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants as the Brewers' Aaron Civale will give the Giants' regressing offense an opportunity to round back into form.

Once looking like a lock to win the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers enter the final month of play with just a 3.5-game lead for first over the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. Winning the division is crucial for the Dodgers as it would most likely come with a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Dodgers can use all the time off they can get as their injured players slowly start making their return back into the lineup.
When at full health, the Dodgers are the clear-cut favorite to win the World Series as they field a level of production far above the rest of the league. Even while battling through injuries, the Dodgers still managed to maintain their near top of the board marks in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage. This is in large part of their elite depth throughout the lineup, including fielding MLB MVP front-runner Shohei Ohtani as their leadoff man.
With Ohtani kicking things off, as well as Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman following right after, the Dodgers are in a great position to open up the scoring early in Thursday’s contest against the Orioles. Especially since they are set to face off against Cade Povich as he has mightily struggled with limiting opposing offensive production. In 10 games played, Povich takes the mound with an ERA of 6.10, WHIP of 1.623, and FIP of 5.90.
Fortunately for the Orioles, they will have a great opportunity to match the Dodgers' offensive output as they are set to face off against an equally struggling arm on the mound. With Bobby Miller listed as the starter in Thursday’s matchup, expect the Orioles to get into scoring position from the opening pitch as Miller comes into the contest with an ERA of 7.49, WHIP of 1.739, FIP of 6.35, and over one Hit Against per Inning Pitched.

Well before our first YRFi kicks off, we turn our attention towards the matchup between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers as the Giants regressing offense gets the chance to round back into form against Aaron Civale. The Giants are in need of a bounce back performance as it has been a rough past couple of weeks for their offense, regressing back down to below league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
With Civale set to take the mound, expect the Giants top of their order to set the tone early as the Brewers pitcher has struggled with limiting the number of runners on base and in scoring position. So far in his 2024 campaign, Civale has generated an ERA of 4.84, a WHIP of 1.387, conceded 134 Hits Against, and an astonishing 69 Earned Runs Allowed.
On the other side of the field, the Milwaukee Brewers offense will be in a position to continue to succeed as they are set to face off against the Giants Hayden Birdsong. In his brief appearances so far this season, the Giants rookie has generated an ERA of 4.57, a WHIP of 1.368, and FIP of 5.00. To make matters worse for Birdsong, he is supported by one of the worst defenses in the league as the Giants' back end ranks 28th overall in Defensive Efficiency.
