We start off Tuesday’s slate targeting a potential World Series preview as both the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers are in a position to open up the scoring early in their contest. Before that takes place, we turn our attention toward the matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox as both defenses are projected to trot out a pair of struggling pitchers.

Tuesday’s slate brings us an exciting matchup as the Baltimore Orioles are set to face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a potential World Series preview. Both clubs are in a great position to make the playoffs as the Dodgers are currently in first in the NL West while the Orioles have a comfortable lead in the AL wildcard standings. The Orioles also still have a chance of winning the AL East, yet their hopes of leaping over the Yankees are dwindling as we near the end of the regular season.
Should the Orioles want to close the gap between them and the Yankees in the AL East division standings, then their offense will need to generate production from the opening pitch in order to hold off the Dodgers' rapid scoring pace. The Orioles' offensive metrics indicate they are capable of doing just that, coming into the contest ranked well above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and On Base Percentage.
It won’t come easy, but the Orioles should be able to maintain their high level of production against Jack Flaherty as he has struggled with keeping opposing runners off the bases in his new home. While his overall WHIP of 1.008 seems daunting to fade against, his metrics with just the Dodgers are far more appealing as his WHIP clocks in at 1.254 since getting traded to Los Angeles.
On the other side of the field, it should be business as usual for the Dodgers elite top of their order as they get the benefit of swinging against the Orioles' rotational pitcher Cole Irvin. In 99 Innings Pitched this season, Irvin takes the mound with an ERA of 4.82, WHIP of 1.414, FIP of 4.61, 117 Hits Against, and 53 Earned Runs Allowed. Even if Shohei Ohtani sits this one out due to injury, Mookie Betts and former MLB Hits Leader Freddie Freeman still play at a high enough level to make the YRFI worth backing.

After failing to cash the YRFI in the previous contest between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox, we try our luck again by targeting the next game of their series as a pair of struggling pitchers are set to take the mound. Getting to face off against an underwhelming arm is especially vital when backing the Blue Jays as their offense ranks below league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, and Total Runs Scored.
Positive regression does loom large over their offense as they rank above league average in On Base Percentage. Against the Red Sox rotational pitcher Cooper Criswell, the Blue Jays offense will have a great opportunity to build some late-season momentum as he has struggled with avoiding opposing contact. In 79.2 Innings Pitched, Criswell enters the contest with 85 Hits Against and a WHIP of 1.343.
As for the Red Sox, their offense should continue to play at a high level as they get the benefit of facing off against the Blue Jays Yariel Rodriguez. While his appearances have been brief, he has mightily struggled with limiting opposing offensive production as he takes the mound with an ERA of 4.40, WHIP of 1.331, and FIP of 4.42. Expect Boston to get into scoring position early in their matchup as their offense ranks near the top of the board in the same previously mentioned offensive metrics.
